“Seraphim” is the new single from electro duo Simian Mobile Disco’s new Unpatterns LP, expected this May. The track continues to explore the abyss of this duo’s analog synthdom, but with a certain now-gen pop keenness. It’s catchy, we’ve warned you, check it out below:

Willie the Kid recently dropped a new vid for “Goodfellas” from his #TheCrates mixtape. Lush on the beat, this cut has become the victim of gangsta like #repeat at b3sci HQ.

OK I’ll admit it, I rarely “fave” unsigned bands. After Battle Tapes played a great Moheak show at The Satellite LA last Saturday night, we thought we’d give “Sweatshop Boys” a spin for the guest panel on Thursday’s Moheak Music Meeting program. The song title alone is almost worth the spin, but this song was the highest rated track on the show, beating out numerous heavies. Capitol’s Executive Vice President of A&R Alex Luke even gave it a top rating. The bass line will hit you right away. Think of Nine Inch Nails meeting The Faint, only a not as dark.

Another track from Canadian hip-hopper Cadence Weapon. He is one of the most talented Canadian rappers but he is yet to get the attention he deserves. This one comes a few weeks after dropping a Grimes-produced tune that got him some hype. Dig the beat, and the verses are tight. Even some political jibes thrown in there which I always like. I have a feeling that big things are coming from this guy, and he is just giving us a taste.

So Cal four-piece Mrs. Magician is in the midst of a cross-country jaunt with fellow San Diegans, Cults. They’re less influenced by the NYC girl groups, instead taking cues from Don Van Vliet and a whole lot of jangle pop. Fans of irreverent, Rivers Cuomo / Stephin Merritt style songwriting should wake up early this Tuesday, March 6th, and purchase a digital copy of their debut LP, Strange Heaven, out via Swami records. The Prescription Vision 7” was released this past November, but the album version of “There is no God” is an anthem for atheists. Love this shit before a mini-encyclopedia emerges post-SXSW.
