new music from manchester uk band Airship. the song “Kids” is excerpted from a new compilation out jan 11 from the Love and Disaster label. the compilation, focused on manchester artists, also includes tracks from Jo Rose, Delphic, and Dutch Uncles. “Kids,” featured here, is an excellent piece of brit guitar pop boasting both strong vocal and instrumental hooks. the tune breathes a verve and vitality that leaves us only wanting more. Airship are a band that we certainly will be watching..
everything everything are an exciting new band emerging from the manchester scene. fusing pop-conscious r&b, avant-garde experimental and classic madchester, the band pay no mind to traditional genre boundaries! everything everything are one ambitious bunch, but to the band’s credit, they seem to temper that ambition with at least an equal tonnage of wit. we’re right psyched on ee.’s potential, and for now the smokin’ chorus on “MY KZ YR BF” will hold us over until we’re able to get our grimy yank paws on an official full length debut. the “MY KZ YR BK” single is available on download & 7″ oct. 5, 09.
the question.. we wonder, will Delphic help carry the torch of manchester brilliance??? either way “this momentary” is solid, and for a lack of better words.. does something real. and whatever real is for you, for us (today) it’s a fucking dance party. truth be told; many bands have channelled New Order, but not many have had the taste to do it right. dig
Deastro stand out in the cluttered and increasingly less inspiring indie electro-pop music crowd. while young in age, Randolph Chabot demonstrates his ability to hold down a sincere and quality song. there’s a fine line between writing good songs from experience, and natural talent. the latter of which radiates from “toxic crusader”. “are we not from the roots of the planet and the trees”??? ain’t it the truth?
“Talk Tonight” was written after Noel Gallagher first left oasis during their ‘94 US tour. they weren’t done then, or in 96′ when they started a tour in the states with liam house shopping back home with the misses, they weren’t done in 2000 when noel left the band during their world tour. and there’s more in between, but the point is.. are they actually done now?
hope not. as much slack as this band gets for not being what they were in the 90’s, they are simply one of few, a small handful of bands that can actually still hold it down as a relevant rock and roll band after almost 18 years. should they actually be over this time, it would be a shame. ok - to see noel do a non-accompanied solo tour, neil young style, would be mind blowing. a solo record would be incredible as well. but what wouldn’t be incredible is seeing oasis fall into the “reunion” band category. they’ll do it for the money, fuck the pistols did it, but it’s a sad and uninspiring moment for a band when shit like that happens.
so will another “talk tonight” come out of this break? hope so. it’s clearly one of noel’s best songs ever, and a b-side of course. does any band even have better b-sides than oasis?? either way, to see what happens with the big O in the near future will be an interesting course of events, at least to us. so we’ll keep you posted.
the most handsome man in manchester is back! we’re not exactly sure what the word “stellify” even means, (being high on x pills maybe?) but whatever, if ian brown says it, its got to be cool. props to dj time stretchon this killer sped up version.
