new and off the second blahblahvampire soundtrack, Band Of Skulls offer “Friends”. this one is a stomper, and unlike that death diamond track, this single must have been tracked before their food got tainted with jack white roids. it’s fixin’ to be the holiday season, and for this we are thankful.
new from Two Door Cinema Club. tune drops official november 16. listen to this twice and you’re stuck with it the rest of the day. go ahead call our bluff..
BAM! janet is gonna “make us” extend dance party monday into tuesday. and damn, janet comes hard on this brand new just-released track. we’re really feeling this sound. a sound that feels, at least to us, like an homage to her brother. between the off-beat vocal syncopations, the sort of breezy harmonic arrangements, and fuck! the repeated “don’t stop til you get enough” ?kinda? lines. we think this is the best song to come out of camp janet in several years. so excuse us, while we monday get down, charlie brown! (on tuesday! haha).
cleaner than the prior live version, the first single “Circles” offers a glance into As Tall As Lions 3rd Studio LP dropping August 18. the band also has an additional track titled “In Case of Rapture” which explores some great instrumental ideas, only available on their myspace. you can’t take it with you is one of our most anticipated releases of the year, stay tuned..
this obviously is what it is. so we wont yak about the obvious, rather we’ll yak about what it is… minus the obvious. right, so isn’t king of the hill hilarious? thx to rave for the heads up.. muse’s new track is no doubt good and f’ing rocks, but is it really theirs? something tells me The Resistance due September 14 will be a whole lot more like Black Holes and Revelations, and a lot less like Origin of Symmetry.. just a hunch
frontperson for the world’s biggest band takes on miracle legion’s “all for the best” off the “ciao my shining star: the songs of mark mulcahy” compilation. we love it! “thom yorke told us we could smoke weed!”
the more i hear “Circles” (studio version here) the more it grows on me. ATAL third LP you can’t take it with you will be released on August 18. when they played Reggies in Chicago last year, we spoke about the new record as they were in the process of choosing a producer. they explained it was a tough choice because their songwriting process is an intricate one involving every member of the band. that, and the fact they were looking forward to exploring new rhythmic ideas, or better put… someone that gets “it” = right chemistry = right producer. i was the lucky LAST person allowed in the door at LA’s sold out Troubadour gig in February. they debuted some of the songs, and there were some great things taking shape. we’ll see. good things come to those who wait..
“Song For Luna” is a favorite off their last and self-titled sophomore ‘06 LP..
