Four Tet – Daughter

Four Tet’s latest album is smoother than butter. The transitions are beautiful and as always, this guy delivers some major melodies. One track that especially stood out of me on his new release, New Energy is called “Daughter”. The repetitive beat creates a sense of cool collectiveness throughout the entirety of the track while the ebbing and flowing of the piano and vocals create some excitement. Head over to Spotify to stream it.

Designer & Four Tet – Mothers

designer

Tune into the new mind expansive, cosmos reverberating, percussion saturated melodic-dance epic “Mothers” (over 8 minutes long) from B3 fave UK producer Four Tet (covered here multiple times) and Aussie producer Designer. D & FT take the listener on a jaunt a midst some bewitching late night Euro house atmospheres, build it up into something slightly chaotic and gracefully tone down the song gradually to a whisper-y essence that tapers out beautifully at the end. Terrific tune. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Four Tet’s latest remix creation (this time for Tennessee-based R&B singer Justin Timberlake) sent the synapses the internet-wide ablaze earlier today. So in the event that you were up to something this afternoon that didn’t involved being parked in front an internet screen and you haven’t heard Four Tet’s “Suit & Tie” remix yet, you can sort that out below. Four Tet just let loose on “Moma” previewed from the forthcoming We Are The Works In Progress compilation expected January 10, 2012. The track showcases a refreshing minimal take on electronic layers. Sit back and prepare for a journey into the retro future.

Radiohead – Separator (Four Tet Remix)

radiohead3

Radiohead continue their long march towards shining up that gloomy shitbrick of an LP they dropped earlier this year. This time “Separator” gets the A-List remix treatment via the Four Tet man. The mix is one part spaceballs, one part Massive Attack’s “Teardrop”, and one part “pretty good” remix. See if you can sort all those parts out for yourself below.

Breton – S Four

breton

Team Breton continue to further hone their percussive, jittery, melodically interesting sound with “S Four”. The follow up single to the South London quintet’s great “Force of Habit” EP. On “S Four” punchy, skittering drums frame a hypnotic main melody “and how will I be in two places at once” augmented with well-timed flourishes of synth and orchestration.

Classixx – w1w-16tp

classixx

Get into the far-out stratospheric beat-centered calm and overtly-catchy mellow-vibed simplicity of “wiw-16tp” a vibrant new soundscape from LA-based veteran electro DJ/production duo Classixx (a.k.a. Tyler Blake and Michael David) who have not released much since their debut “Hanging Gardens” EP which was out a couple of years ago. We covered the duo in 2009 and still dig their signature spacey ambient-based quiet-side sound and are pleased to see Classixx (presumably Tyler Blake) headlining a DJ set at Denver’s Cloak & Dagger music festival on September 19th along with Four Tet and Lido. If you are into a spaced-out techno-lounge dynamic be sure give a listen to “A. Ohana” the beautifully robust bass-laden recent-release a-side track from Michael David’s new solo act called Studio Paradiso (which is out via new label Distant Works on August 24th).
