2015 electric-soul hotlist duo HONNE have been on an exquisite streak of beautiful music since last year, with a slew of excellent singles. We’ve covered a number of their songs and rate them all as top notch in the pop, soul, and singer-songwriter genres (we placed HONNE on both of our 2014 year end lists and “No Place Like Home” made it to our staff top-10 lists for 2015). Their latest perfectly-pleasant sensitive-emotive singer-songwriter genius is apparent on their recent masterpiece “Woman”. The English duo’s vocals are so soulful and intimate (beautiful background melodies too) on the song that it honestly feels like they are singing directly at you (wouldn’t that be nice). You could also say that the sweet sentiment in the lyrics (love song) are exactly what any person might want to hear so therefore the track is anthemic. For anybody looking for a pick me up, the recent release has the steely emotive feel of their previous productions (maybe less sad and love-lorn) yet it manages to convey even more emotion and beauty. HONNE are indeed honing their style into a very classic sound. Reviewed by Erin Shay.
We love “No Place Like Spanish Sahara” the Foals and Honne hybrid track from Brisbane Australia’s talented 18-yr old producer-collaborator Max Byrne a/k/a Golden Vessel. The new track, which features a meld of Foals track “Spanish Sahara” and B3 fave “There’s No Place Like Home” (ft. JONES) by London rising-star duo HONNE, started out a year ago as simply a remix of Foals and recently morphed for the producer into something quite special. Excellent juxtaposition of elements on “No Place Like Spanish Sahara”. Sensational mix. Reviewed By Erin Shay.

B3 favorite UK dynamo duo HONNE have hit our pages many times this year with their supremely smooth vibrantly-emotive intensely-moving sexy-sultry vocal-led pop. Earlier this week HONNE hit the blog scene with the full dose of their new four-song “Over Lover” EP which features three uniquely awesome new tracks to follow the EP’s very good on-point (B3 lauded) recent release first single “Loves The Jobs You Hate”. We especially dig the sound of “No Place Like Home” the duo’s vividly-sensuous receptive-vulnerable Jones-vocaled track from the EP for its warm over-the-top romantic sense of true attraction and extremely lovely warm-hug-vibe melodic vocal duet. Not surprisingly, we love the very excellent sweet-spectrum of emotions and sounds on “Over Lover” and recommend it whole heartedly. Top quality stuff HONNE. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

UK B3 standout duo fave HONNE excel with another on-point new one called “Loves the Jobs You Hate” which is a track off of their forthcoming “Over Lover” EP that releases on September 2nd. We last featured HONNE’s straightforward velvety vocals and artfully woven timeless brand of no nonsense pop on their last track “Top To Toe”. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

The unstoppable UK R&B act HONNE impress again with their new expansive, deeply thoughtful multidimensional track “Top to Toe” which features a unique-dynamic twisty mix of instrumentals artfully woven with the duo’s signature straightforward velvety vocals. HONNE, one of our very favorite new artists at B3, made it to the top of the B3SCI Best Tracks of 2014 list and also hit our Artists to Watch in 2015 compilation. Stay tuned for more from this rising-star-talent who recently released “Top To Toe” as a part of their new “Coastal Love” EP which is out on Tatemae Recordings. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

London’s Electrowerkz is the setting for Honne’s second ever live show and at 5 minutes to 9 o’clock 150 or so eager bodies squeeze themselves into the venue from the curious bunting-laden warehouse feel of the bar. The band shortly follow in and politely push their way through to the stage, where once up you’re able to fully appreciate Andy and James’ black, and slightly darker black, turtleneck jumpers.
Instead of cautiously taking the often-underwhelming laptop, guitar and mic option, Honne have already surrounded themselves with a sublime group of musicians, who translate each meticulously crafted track from the studio to the stage in a wholly satisfying way. For an electronic duo with just a handful of tracks online it’s hard to know exactly what to expect but just from the first 2 tracks leading into “Warm On A Cold Night” they let you know that they completely have this down. They’ve put in the necessary time and thought and won’t be putting a foot wrong in front of an audience. From this point on the room can relax and fully immerse themselves in the sensual sounds.
Second single “The Night” receives the best response from the crowd and sits half way through a consistently smooth 10 song set of late night R&B vibes. Future-hits weren’t in short supply either and instantly agreeable tracks like “Top To Toe” give us a taste of what we’ve yet to hear. They close on a triumphant note with “All In The Value” where Andy & James both don guitars and let loose a flare of unexpectedly flawless skills, presumably honed during their previous indie project together. There’s no support act, no encore and not too much chat. Just a few words about turtleneck jumpers and a quick bit of crowd interaction from Andy, which could have only served as a rehearsal for when they’re playing to far larger audiences. It wont be long before they make that leap and this felt like a statement to let us know that they’re fully prepared for what’s to come.
UK newcomers Honne have had quite the year for themselves; between authoring one of the year’s best songs “Warm On A Cold Night” and following it up with a string heavily buzzed singles. Here, the twosome spin a decidedly minimalist character around the Rae Morris track “Under The Shadows” mixing in warm synths and low touch breaks.

HONNE, the new UK R&B duo behind one blog indie’s biggest tracks of the year “Warm On A Cold Night”, excel in the modern comfort soul of latest “The Night”. The “Warm On A Cold Night” EP is out now on Super Recordings.

UK band HONNE, authors of one of 2014’s best tracks “Warm On a Cold Night”, are back today with new one “Baby Please”. The soulful number “Baby Please” is another stunning (a word music blogs use a lot but warranted here) example of HONNE’s great and sophisticated R&B-influenced (but not alt-R&B) songwriting and again marks the band as one to keep on the radar screen into 2015. HONNE’s debut EP is out September 22nd on Super Recordings.
