Jay Rock – Easy Bake (Feat. Kendrick Lamar)

jayrock

Jay Rock’s new album 90059 is due out December 4th. Unsuprisingly however, a couple of the songs on the album have already been released online. “Easy Bake” is the only song off the project that features fellow Black Hippy artist Kendrick Lamar. The last verse features a cool back and forth between Kendrick and Jay that brings a new unexpected closing twist to the song. Reviewed by Jake Goldstein.

Egyptian Art – She’s So Lovely (Kendrick Lamar x abhi//dijon)

egyptianart

New B3 producer/artist-find Egyptian Art carefully seams together form and function with style and pizzaz on their new gracefully-executed ultra-smooth beat-driven hybrid remix “She’s So Lovely” which we especially dig for its deep sweepingly-cinematic vibe, glossy absolute-winner bass-line adaptation, and seductive dynamic between synth, beats and vocals. “She’s So Lovely” is an irresistibly catchy artfully-crafted well-calibrated mesh of abhi//dijon’s “Honest” and Kendrick Lamar’s track “Poetic Justice”. Excellent track. We are listening Egyptian Art. A+ Reviewed by Erin Shay.

A$AP ROCKY – 1TRAIN (feat. Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Action Bronson & Big K.R.I.T.)

Asap Rocky’s debut LongLiveASAP is due to drop on January 15th – and this track wants to make sure everybody knows how important that’s going to be: “1Train” goes in heavy and squeezes a plethora of big names into 6 minutes of triumphant beats, think of this as 2012’s executive summary of hip-hop. Joel Baker – Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe (Kendrick Lamar Refix)

UK soulsmith blesses the g.k.m.c. standout with his sugary sweet tenor with production from Londoners The Confect. Both Baker and TC are on a highest of highs here with vocalist Baker earning top marks for the fluidity of his diction and feel and The Confect knocking down some of the most pleasingly soulful production of the year. Definitely not one to miss. (SCUK)

Camille Michelle Gray – Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe (Kendrick Lamar)

Maryland singer/songwriter Camille Michelle Gray’s acoustic version of Kendrick Lamar’s “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” (maybe our favorite track on GKMC) is really really good. The playing isn’t 100% perfect, you can tell that this performance was more of a one off, but Camille’s soulfulness and the skill with which she interprets Kendrick’s intricate lyricism are both of the highest quality. Camille’s definitely someone now on the b3 radar.

Kendrick Lamar – Poetic Justice (Feat. Drake)

One of the more anticipated good kid, m.A.A.d city has emerged, the (awesome) Janet Jackson-sampling “Poetic Justice” featuring Drake. The smoothest sounds in the cut. Cooler than cool.

Kendrick Lamar – Backseat Freestyle (Prod. Hit Boy)

The latest winner to surface from good kid m.A.A.d. city finds Kendrick reaching for the swagger lines on top Hit Boy’s beat. Hit Boy’s beat, it should be said, is off the fuckin’ chain. Hit Boy’s in some kind of top of the game zone right now. Great look to see these dueling singularities of hip hop hype connect on a track (and for the track to be so good.)
