The more played out the “Future Garage” sounds gets, the more it becomes “Old” Future Garage, the more difficult it is definitely to impress, stand out, make an impression with a sound that is on the definite business end of its trendiness. Charles Murdoch’s “Sleeper” is that standout and so much more. The type and timber of the beats, the pitched down vocals, the languid instrumentals, they feel real. They feel like the product of an artist who needs to make this music, regardless of it’s fashion. That, and it helps, too, that Mr. Murdoch is also extraordinarily skilled. A++

The all nu-disco all the time cruise liner just landed at B3 station with an ace (and funky!) little mix for our friends Blondfire via SF remixer Funk LeBlanc. Spin it below and don’t be too shy to buy us a pina colada.

The mystery around French Express DJ Moon Boots continues to grow as his popularity continues to rise. Not much is known about the DJ and on his facebook page it says, “Moon Boots entered the world in the mid-1980s via Cape Canaveral,” though in a recent interview with Set One Twenty he mentions he is from Chicago. All that mystery and popularity lead us to this patented nu disco spin that he has given to the 2013 release of “Gold” by Bondax. Already a hit with the online community, Moon Boots turns the head bobbing, bass heavy original into a booty shaking, synth heavy masterpiece. By Brian Litwin

Providence-based Magic Man are really really talented; almost too talented (give these other new bands a break guys!). On “Paris”, the band’s debut track (!), everything’s an A+’ from the melodies (very good), to the hooks (very plentiful), to arrangement (very skilled). If “Paris” is any indication (and it’s an emphatic one) Magic Man could be in store for a really major 2013.

The beautiful, cascading, soulful drum & bass of Rudimental’s new release “Waiting All Night” is further force forward for the UK act as they fully bloom now into megastars. “Waiting All Night” has more gas than ExxonMobil and more juice than Denny’s on a Sunday morning with a groupon, and is one of those really special tracks. We expect no less than it to be blowing up charts all spring and summer.

Rapidly-becoming-b3sci-faves Twice As Nice ring out another gem on the duo’s electroheavy slow burner restyling of the Ghost Loft track, “Seconds”. It’s a fitting homage to LA-based Danny Choi, the visionary behind Ghost Loft who himself has remixed for rising acts, The Neighbourhood “Let It Go” & Icky Blossoms “Heat Lightning”. Ghost Loft will release his highly anticipated debut EP later this year and stay tuned for more to come from Twice As Nice.

New UK bass artist A/T/O/S perfects a soft subtle R&B-driven mix with the lights-down-low “A Taste of Struggle”. On the track, A/T/O/S selects for a syrupy, slow-motion-in-a-reverse female vocal framed up by cooled out easy breezy (beautiful) percussion tones. The result amounts for us (and for you too) to must listen material. Look for an official release for “A Taste of Struggle” on DEEP MEDi March 25th.

UK producer/Jeremy Lin frat-boy band side project Brolin transports us the beautifully stark & grey Icelandic capital with the smoky synth pop of “Reykjavik”. Did you know over 70% of the Icelandic population lives in metro Reykjavik? We’re guessing here our man Brolin is crushin’ pretty hard on at least one lucky Reyjaviker. Check it out.

The Internet’s (OFWGKTA’s Syd the Kyd & Matt Martians) sultry remix of Mikky Ekko’s great “Pull Me Down” from last year is so good, it warrants a lifting of b3sci’s long standing Odd Future Embargo. Sade just called (yeah’s she’s got our number, deal with it.) and said this remix is too sexy even for her. Get familiar below.

Shlohmo makes it all look so easy. The Los Angeles based producer yet again showcases his immense talent with latest single, “Don’t Say No” featuring How to Dress Well. The newest track from his “Laid Out” project, the new EP demonstrates Shlohmo’s unique ability to draw the listener out of their world and into his. How to Dress Well’s Tom Krell’s R&B-laden vocals and Shlohmo’s mastery of all that is beats make the wait for “Laid Out” due out March 5th, that much more difficult. By Phoebe Severin
