Spacebats – Alright

By Chris Gedos

spacebats

Spacebats recently dropped an unexpected gem in our laps called “Alright”. There’s a lot of genre bending here, with a great arrangement and nice mixture of live instrumentation with beatmaking expertise. Fans of the jazz fusion gamut, from Jamiroquai to Spyro Gyra, will find a familiar sonic landscape. In addition, the vocal pays respect to the best of 70’s soul / 80’s R&B. I’m not sure if this is the completed track, as it unfortunately cuts off near the end, but it’s a nice little teaser with solid commercial potential.

BLKKATHY – Dem Bones

blkkathy

“Dem Bones” knocks. BLKKATHY is definitely one for your radar, the band take what everyone loves about music from bands like The xx, and adds an extra touch of vulnerability and BASS (can’t forget that bumpin’ bass). Listen.

Bombay Bicycle Club – How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep (Scuba Mix)

bbcsleep

One of our favorite artists in any genre Hotflush producer Scuba goes mental over BBC’s latest single “How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep”. Re-fashioning as a sprawling nearly 8-minute subterranean dub techno monster, the BBC sound is transformed here in a way it hasn’t quite been before. We LOVE this sound, we love every hand in this mix and would definitely be up for hearing more BBC tracks mixed in this style. Listen.

Shlohmo – Rained the Whole Time (Nicolas Jaar Remix)

shlohmovacation

Nicolas Jaar pulls the floor/foundation/earth’s crust out from under the Shlohmo jam “Rained the Whole Time”. We’re talking SUPER deep. Jaar takes what was already a cooly visceral track and has (by mixing in subtle changes in rhythms and atmopsheres) cooked down “Rained the Whole Time” to its most bare, vulnerable & transparent. It’s a really powerful mix.

Youan – Movin’

youan

“Movin” by young? UK producer Youan is about to make your week. This that soulful UK beats shit done at its highest level. We’ve had Youan on heavy blast here at b3sci HQ the last couple weeks and continue to not really be able to get enough. Let “Movin'” be your introduction to this criminally under the radar artist.

Deadmau5 – Get In The October Cart, Pig (New Version)

deadmau5

Dave Grohl’s favorite “computer music” collaborator Deadmau5 just let loose this new version of “Get In The October Cart, Pig”. The build/overall feel of this track is IMMENSE. I don’t think anymore words from us are needed here. Hit that play button.

David Guetta – Turn me on (Feat. Nicki Minaj) (Alain Lalonde Remix)

By Jon Herriot

guetta-lalonde-minaj

From a minimal, simple beat this builds into a bumpin’ track. Granted, the original track was already huge so its hard to go wrong, but Alain Lalonde spins this in a fresh new way. Diggin’ it. Especially when it chills and quiets down at the end getting people ready for the next track. He inserts and alters the Nicki Minaj vocal bits in a nice way too. This guy is showing some promise out of my hometown of Regina, Canada.

The Drums – Days (Trentemoller Remix)

thedrumsdays

Trentemoller comes through with an excellent clicks and claps remix of The Drums’ “Days” track from last year. Using a soulful synth bed and some smartly arranged rhythmic loops, Trentemoller delivers some his best remix work here. Turn it up!
