CHVRCHES – The Mother We Share (Moon Boots Remix)

CHVRCHES - The Mother We Share (Moon Boots Remix)

He put his lunar touch on Bondax’s “Gold” and now he’s gone zero gravity on the the electro-pop of Scottish breakout group CHVRCHES. Per usual from the French Express producer, the synths are super smooth and the new disco vibe is layered thickly. By Brian Litwin

Janet Jackson – That’s The Way Love Goes (Final DJs Remix)

janetjackson

The Terry Lewis & Jimmy Jam-produced “That’s The Way Love Goes” is one of the best R&B tracks ever. So why remix it? Enter Final DJs and their 80’s synth-pop inspired heatrock of a mix. FDJs select for big room synth textures and balance them with smooth as silk house beats to create an A+ juxtaposition and an overall very good remix.

Little Daylight – Glitter and Gold (Kulkid Remix)

Glitter and Gold (Kulkid remix)

Hot streak French producer Kulkid gives a fresh look to the ever-catchy “Glitter and Gold” from Little Daylight in anticipation of the band’s new remix EP dropping tomorrow. The remix is another winner for the LD trio, as Kulkid’s touch is subtle yet effective, true to the song’s pop nature while uniquely reminiscent of early Lykki Li. We’re into it.

Rave’s Fave: Avicii – Liar Liar

Avicii-Album-Cover-True

Review By Bruce Rave

If anything, Avicci’s meteoric rise to the cream of the EDM crop will accelerate with his recent True LP. His worldwide hit “Wake Me Up” showed that this dude is more than ready to blur genres, something very evident on “Liar Liar”. This retro-sounding track features lead vocals from Blondfire singer Erica Driscoll. If you love a Farfisa organ straight out of the 60’s, that’s even more reason to give this a listen. Avicci may cross the lines but can you dance to this? Of course!

Heavenly Beat – Honest

heavenlybeat

The brilliant Captured Tracks delivers another gem w/ Heavenly Beat and their track for “Honest”. The song, which is the second single from Heavenly Beat a/k/a John Pena’s (ex-Beach Fossils) October 15-due LP Prominence, builds its sound palette from everywhere to tropical to early 90’s Kangol hat-wearing Britpop. The mix is put on quite well and coherently with nary a tone or genre or location of influence out of place or seeming forced. Well done.

Real Lies – World Peace

reallies

London’s Real Lies channel the best of 90’s late night house music through the lens of more current trends in the genre. Transportive in the best way; it’s hard, for us at least, not to imagine winding through Soho streets past 3 AM near the close of another charismatic evening. “World Peace” is part of double-A single release (w/ “Deeper”) from Real Lies that’s out November 4th on Sweet Exile.

George Maple + Kilo Kish + Kwes – Gripp

George Maple X Kilo Kish X Kwes grip

Today the world was treated to “Gripp”. George Maple and Kwes, names that have yet to deliver anything sub-par. And damn did they deliver. Maple and Kwes have their genius complimented by Kilo Kish, who’s soulful voice, and effortless flow compliment the smooth base track. Kish, who is also featured on a recently released Chet Faker track, expresses vulnerability in her lyrics, behind an incredibly powerful voice: “I’m ashamed to admit it, but I’ll take my clothes off at your beck and call.” Do yourself a favor and have a listen.
