Our Man in Harlem Killa Cam posts up on some classic early 90’s Jodeci w/ this new set of verses for “Come and Talk To Me”. If you’re like us and have been spinning the piss out of the new Drake (which is a definite record of the year candidate btw) then you are familiar track 13 “Pound Cake”, particularly Jay Z’s feature in which he says and I think the first instance in which Mr. Carter has mentioned Mr. Giles by name on record in several years, “I’ve done made more millionaires than the lotto did. If we’re to believe anybody in the rap game is playing “no games”, it has to be our bro Rick Ross. And while the Future feature for what is Ross’ new LP’s lead single is a bit predictable, Ross’ flow and rhyme scheme on “No Games” is not. Maybe nobody in hip hop works as hard as the MMG chief does, listen to “Hustlin” (remember this is the same dude who rhymes Atlantic w/ Atlantic) or any of the early pre-Port of Miami Ross features and compare it w/ “No Games”, the progression/the labor put in is undeniable. Mastermind is due later this year.

“Deeper” is both the newest track and the title of an upcoming EP (due 9/24) from Freddie Gibbs & Madlib. Another instant classic in the MadGibbs canon, “Deeper” again showcases the nearly perfect dynamic/symbiosis (why not?) between Madlib’s steady soul-driven production hand and Gangsta Gibbs’ A+ diction and rhyme schemes.
