Stream: The 1975 – The 1975 [LP]

the 1975

The 1975 have offered up a full stream of their most excellent self-titled debut album in anticipation of it’s release this coming Monday (9/2). In a recent interview with frontman Matt Healy, the Mike Crossey co-produced album is aptly described by the singer as a ‘culmination of a life’s work’. And, as with any true album, there is a tangibility to The 1975. The lyrical ebb and flow of memories of youth, lust, and all the experiences they come with, is here captured by a new generation of pop music appreciators, with an incisive blend of fluidic R&B rooted rock. After all, it’s not every day that a new British band merits a lasting impression on the North American conscience.

MØ – XXX 88 ft. Diplo

MØ - XXX 88 ft. Diplo

Aww shit, it’s on, isn’t it? Fastly rising MØ a/k/a Danish songstress Karen Ørsted and co. link up w/ Diplo(!) on new track “XXX 88”. Diplo (& MØ as well) definitely bring their A+ games as “XXX 88” is about the sharpest/freshest track on the planet or elsewhere. We love love love this beefed up horn-heavy hyper-kinetic sound on MØ.

High Hazels – Hearts Are Breaking

high hazels

We’re digging the melodic reverb-drenched indie rock from newish band High Hazels. The UK-based group will release single “Hearts Are Breaking” (which you can sample here below) as part of a new 7″ for Heist or Hit Records on the 7th of October. Well done.

The Casket Girls – Holding You Back

The Casket Girls - Holding You Back

Casket Girls is the new project of Black Moth Super Rainbow member Ryan Graveface. On single “Holding You Back”, sunny late 60’s style melodies veneer an underlying creepiness/sinisterness that reminds of one of those horror movie scenes where the little girl is all alone on the squeaky/creaking swing just as she’s about to get devoured/scarfed up by the Wolfman monster or whatever. “Holding You Back” is part of a special cassette-only release from Casket Girls due September 7.
