Alison Valentine – Peanut Butter

New York songstress Alison Valentine comes up aces on new track “Peanut Butter”. The song earns it’s bread on a set of big time melodies (the sort of melodies and hooks that start the rise of a blogoverse star) that make the track must listen material.

B3SCI PREMIERE: Dan Croll – From Nowhere

“From Nowhere” is the first official release by new Liverpool based artist Dan Croll, a name we’ll no question be hearing a lot more from in the near future. Having already supported the likes of Michael Kiwanuka, James Vincent McMorrow, Map & Atlases and Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Dan has gained noteworthy attention with the release of just a few stellar demo tracks. Dan describes his lively blend of timely indie pop, “Whatever is on around me makes it into my head. I always like to say it’s a balance between acoustic, folk and digital. I’m between two points. I don’t know what you’d call that, a genre that hasn’t got a name”.

One thing for sure, “From Nowhere” is hard to resist. Dan is currently at work recording his debut full length expected sometime in 2013.

Earlimart – ’97 Heart Attack

Early 00’s buzzband Earlimart return with their first release in four years with new album System Preferences. First single “’97 Heart Attack” see the LA based duo adding heavier electronic textures to their inimitable brand of spry indie pop.

E-TRAIN – So Good (Ft. Molly K)

When it comes to summer jams “So Good” hits that sweet spot. The new track from E-TRAIN is his first release since WRATH OF ROXANE+. The song is previewed here for the first time from an upcoming untitled project expected September 5th and it features LA-based Molly K on the sugary hook. Good luck not singing along to this one.

E-TRAIN performs this Saturday in West Los Angeles @ Touch Vinyl with SoundFanua and A Sol Mechanic (INFO) NO COVER 8pm door.

RAVE’S FAVE: The Vaccines – Teenage Icon

They promised us a different album this time around. The title of their new album will be Come of Age and you can hear it. The fast drum intro hits you right away, and then comes that signature 50’s riff. Justin sings “I’m no teenage icon, I’m no Frankie Avalon.” The first song we heard from Come of Age was the surprisingly Dylan-esque “No Hope”, and now this killer. I’ve got heaps of hope for what the rest of the album will sound like. By Bruce Rave

RAVE’S FAVE: Passion Pit – It’s Not My Fault, I’m Happy

2012 has been a great year so far for developing acts because many of indie’s major artists have been quiet. That is about to chance, with an onslaught of higher-profile people dropping albums over the next two months. Passion Pit’s “Gossamer” comes next Tuesday. This album is brighter and lighter than it’s predecessor. Their “Take A Walk” single has become a hit, and this is my next fave track. The title along makes you want to give it a listen. It has a bit of the “Take A Walk” vibe with a driving beat and great melody, but it’s stands quite nicely on its own.

RAVE’S FAVE: Two Door Cinema Club – Sleep Alone

Two Door Cinema Club are one of the most promising new bands with a killer live show, and this brand new single begins their sophomore effort. There are no surprises here but it’s a good one. It’s fresh-sounding song with hooks that should soon have it all over the summer airwaves. By Bruce Rave

Delphic – Good Life

Manchester band Delphic return with an updated sound on “Good Life”. We loved much of the band’s debut Acolyte. “Good Life” doesn’t really sound much like Acolyte though. Gone are the nods to of-that-era electronic music and in are influences of American indie and more mainstream pop.

Aiden Grimshaw – Curtain Call

Ex-X Factor UK top ten finalist Aiden Grimshaw is fast becoming something to keep an ear on. The mid-tempo “Curtain Call” fills a Top 40 void that which artists ala Robbie Williams seem to have been m.i.a. with in recent years. But Aiden is much more than a new school Robbie, his music vibes with a fresh and innovative approach to pop. Armed with crossover club tracks like “Is This Love”, and a debut album dropping soon, Aiden already has given people on both sides of the Atlantic something to talk about.
