“Softer Cell” comes to us via Brighton, UK duo You Love Her Coz She’s Dead. Sans the dark name, the dark art, and for the most part a dark album of industrial inspired electro pop, deeper cut “Softer Cell” showcases a delicate prettier side of YLHCSD.You Love Her Coz She’s Dead – Softer Cell
If the excellent jagged “Young Lovers”, the latest single from Durham UK band The Castells, is any indication – we will be hearing a lot more from them in the very near future. Somebody get Zane Lowe this track!
The Swedish sisters Soderberg return with “Lion’s Roar”, excerpted here from the duo’s upcoming LP of the same name. FAK’s beautiful “Ghost Town” was one of our favorite tracks of 2010 and “Lion’s Roar” is right there in terms of quality. The tune is folky but also references dusty country western balladry, (Think Townes Van Zandt). The Lion’s Roar is due digitally November 8th.First Aid Kit – The Lion’s Roar
Grandpa Was a Lion is Connecticut artist Justin D’Onofrio. If you’re into Bon Iver or David Bazan or Elliott Smith or just great songwriting you’ll want to give GWAL’s Seven Songs a spin on Bandcamp.Grandpa Was a Lion – The Test Dream
Our bro Chris Isaak needs to do some sort of official remix LP. Dude is leaving some serious money on the table not releasing one. 2011 is the year of the Chris Isaak remix.Chris Isaak – Blue Hotel (Dropout Marsh Remix)
Ben just sent along this excellent 5 song covers EP. The free EP includes renditions of songs by Arcade Fire, The Boss, and our pick by World Coolest Walking Corpse, Tom Petty. It’s “Won’t Back Down”.Benjamin Francis Leftwich – Won’t Back Down (Tom Petty Cover)
“Brightside” is NYC’s The Knocks first proper single release for A&M records. It’s an uptempo feel good dance track that’s got enough soul built in its guts to make for great repeat listening. Heavy roc.
