Vidya – Lean On / Jind Mahi (Feat. Ricky Jatt, Raashi Kulkarni, Violinder)

vidya

The megaton hooks and the brute pop might of Major Lazer’s “Lean On” has blossomed fully into the radio ubiquity of the best sort; a pop song with a fresh sound and artful & progressive qualities (and ! in the Billboard Top 5). I was Youtube cruising the other night and most accidentally had this South Asian blend of “Lean On” hit my speakers and what a pleasant bit of serendipitous discovery as I found myself hooked almost immediately. The track is mash of “Lean On” by D.C.-based singer Vidya paired with ?Punjabi (forgive us if we’ve got the wrong language!) track “Jind Mahi” and it’s brilliant. Listen.

Mélat – If It’s Gold I Love (Prod. by WoodysProduce)

melat

We recommend the amazingly-simple gunner-paced trap punctuation vibe of new track “If Its Gold I Love” the new WoodysProduce-produced r&b original which features the distinctively lovely whispery-Whitney vocal sentiments of Austin songstress Mélat, off her recently released multi-producer-showcasing EP, “It Happens So Fast”. Icona Pop – First Time

iconapop

Stockholm darlings, Icona Pop bring us back to the sweet-teen-rebellion dog-days-of-summer with their infectious pop-driven anthemic-hooked new track “First Time” which scores a thumbs up on our B3 scale of catchy-formulaic radio-hit ready rapid-ascender mid-summer jams (to blast from the speakers of your car so people think you are cool). “First Time” is off the pop duo’s new “Emergency” EP, out now. Turn it up and get silly this one is totally for fun! Reviewed by Erin Shay.

NVDES – Unforgettable

nvdes

We like the overt-cheery subtlety and emotive David Bowie-vibe high-ranged vocals on the deliciously warm and friendly new synth-driven acoustic-guitar tinged indie pop track “Unforgettable” from new LA-based act Nvdes, which is a little-known collaboration (for now) rumored on the blogosphere to be a spinoff of some well-known big name talent(s) or act. We’re hoping that Nvdes is some divinely talented newcomer just to root for the underdog. Either way, we are totally entertained by the uniquely weighty cool-atmosphered retro-new-wave vibe of Nvdes, who also recently released their stunner whispery-vocaled 80’s centric debut track “Before The Weekend”. P.S. We are strangely drawn to your awesome melon-showcasing EP artwork. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Kaytranada – Come Clean (Hilary Duff)

kaytranada

B3-current vibe setter Kaytranada charms our whacky pop-culture sentiments with a beautifully composed (insanely catchy) on-a-fun-note twist on some A+ classic back-in-the-day Hilary Duff material. We think Katyra excels at a 10 out of 10 for his pop-sensibilities on this kitchy fresh-vibe jazz-infusion rip of “Come Clean”, a song that you probably once loved yet have somewhat long forgotten (until now). Les Loups – Stay (Feat. Marie Dahlstrøm)

lesloups

Take your mood to upbeat-mellow with “Stay” the sweetly-positive vox-enhanced easy-listening vibe gem track from Hamburg trio Les Loups (Phil, Felix & Toni) who effectively relish in some bright and lively disco-based rhythms and choice instrumental accents (love the piano stabs) to complement the emotive alto-vocals of B3 featured artist London-based Dane rising-star R&B songstress Marie Dahlstrøm; who last wowed us with her upcoming-summer-solo EP debut Sophie Faith/D.K. the Punisher-featured track “Look the Other Way” (which we love for its deeply-expressive melody). The new pop-leaning upbeat-summery disco-vibed “Stay” is the final installment off Les Loups’ artfully-presented single trilogy following “Colourblind” and “Out of Sight” (check them out on Soundcloud). Shy Luv – Magnetise

shyluv

We’re totally into “Magnetize” the new sweetly-seductive dreamy-vocaled beauty track from B3-recent feature Shy Luv who we last discussed here for their neatly executed piece of bass-heavy A+ material “Where You At” as well as the trio’s previous track, the opulent hip-hop leaning pop wonder “Caught Up On You”. All three songs come off the trio’s recently-released debut four-track “Caught Up On You” EP which is excellent enough to firmly place the joint collaboration (between Future Classic producer Karma Kid, Armeria beat maker Jake Norman, and vocalist Ryan Ashley) on our 2015 new-acts-to-follow radar. Transviolet – Girls Your Age

transviolet

We like the colorful-composition artistic weave of the lovely reverb’d main vocals, high-angelic-pitch accompanying background vocal melody and moody-sensational movingly-emotive melancholy undercurrent on “Girls Your Age” the new slow-mo-creative instrumentally-scenic debut track from NY-bred LA-based newcomer four-piece indie-pop band Transviolet; who say the track is about finding a balance between identity expectations and that free-spirited f-u artistic be-yourself vibe that is so important to foster in life (for young women especially). According to Transviolet regarding their vocals-led track, “It’s complicated- coming into your own. Especially for girls. The world wants you to fit a role- be smart OR be sexy OR be modest- they want you to fit into some tidy, little, one-size-fits-all box. The truth is, you are human, and you aren’t meant to be just one thing. You can be innocent, sexy, elegant, dirty, beautiful, and flawed all in the same instance, and you don’t have to let anyone flatten you out into some one dimensional caricature of yourself. Fuck that. You are multidimensional, and you are capable of being everything at once”. Empowering stuff. Transviolet plans to release more material this year so stay tuned! Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Sharon Van Etten – Words

sharonvanetten

B3 showcased Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten in June for her dark and seductive, superbly melancholic, vocally stunning “I Don’t Want To Let You Down” EP second single “Just Like Blood” (the EP released June 11 on Jagjaguwar). This week the talented noir-vocals-leaning pop songstress released her thoughtfully-poetic trap-beat-loaded stunted-pace track “Words” which is cinematic and emotive enough in its scope to be featured on the new July 17-released Netflix documentary Tig (which is about the rise to fame of stand up comedian Tig Notaro).
