Tara Priya – One Foot Out

tarapriya

UK singer Tara Priya’s “One Foot Out” is a dynamic melange of Portishead-y mood, Morricone-esque instrumentals and (most importantly) at its center a very very good modern soul song. If you’re in London, catch Tara Priya at Birthdays in Dalston on the 24th.

Oh Wonder – Dazzle

ohwonder

Oh Wonder, the boy girl duo known up until now as Wonder Wonder, stream third in series of one track release per month for a year. “Dazzle” is a relatively minimal track that succeeds on its accomplished, Radio 1 ready melodic writing and restrained neatly complementary instrumental.

Premiere: DISA – Sculpture

disa

Reykjavik-born Copenhagen-based DISA announces new “Sculpture” signal. “Sculpture” traffics in a space populated by Thom Yorke/Bjorke-esque piano-driven fidelity married to ethereal slightly more R&B-driven vocal textures. Stream the B3 Premiere of “Sculpture from DISA below and look for an EP from the Icelandic artist in early 2015.

Laura Doggett – Moonshine (Gilligan Moss Remix)

lauradoggett

Laura Doggett’s “Moonshine” single gets another A-List remix, this time from Chicago-based Gilligan Moss. Moss, who topped the Hypem chart in April with his outstanding remix for Glass Animals, adds a diverse and progressive rhythm and instrumental construction around the Doggett single with A++ results.

Tei Shi – See Me

teishi

“See Me” is the follow-up to Tei Shi’s Hypem #1 “Bassically”. Produced by Luca Buccellati and Dave Bayley of Glass Animals, “See Me” sits at the nexus of several diverse yet complementary styles (modern indie, dub, R&B, Scandinavian pop) and conveys an excellent stylistic foil to “Bassically”s palette and tempo. “See Me” is out now on Double Denim (UK) / Mermaid Avenue (US).

Fine Print – About You

fineprint

Anonymous UK artist(s) Fine Print make B3 debut on the dreamy soft touch R&B of “About You”. Fine Print’s track sits very much within the scope and realm of 2014 dance indie/R&B whatever you’d like to call it but excels in the originality department through its forward thinking arranging (hints of house and balearic-y elements creep in the mix) and unique instrumentation (try throwing a saxophone solo over “future beats” and not have it come off as hokey). 10/10.

Christina Perri – Burning Gold (Bit Funk Remix)

christinaperri

I am somewhat shocked that Christina Perri hasn’t been on some more popular remixes in the blog world. Her voice almost seems like a perfect candidate for a proper Hypem-leaning flip. Enter Canadian (now Brooklyn based) Bit Funk who incorporates the catchy as hell chorus melody and swerving it from Perri’s original song throws a clinic on how to turn a pop song into a club smash.
