Los Angeles-based alt-shoegaze rockers Draag have managed to gain some traction in their local scene despite being in their relative infancy.
The band was started in the fall of 2013 as the solo recording project of Adrian Acosta (guitar, programs, vocals) who would go on to recruit the rest of the band mid-way through the process. With Jessica Huang (guitar, keys, and vocals), Adrian De La Cruz (guitar), Carlos Michel (bass, sampler) and Danny Rossi (drums) in the fold, the quintet create eclectic, ambient dream rock influenced by essential Creation Records artists (My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream, The Jesus And Mary Chain), Aphex Twin and Fugazi.
Draag is getting ready to release the follow up to their self titled debut full length, which was dropped earlier this year. The first taste of their forthcoming EP is single “Lavender Hole” which was produced by fellow LA experimental rocker Jeff Byron, formerly of The Mae Shi’s.

“Smoke Bellow” is new from Detroit “cosmic trap” merchants Gosh Pith. “Smoke Bellow” casts an inventive mix of a Kaytranada/Sango aesthetic (particularly in the song’s chord progressions) and stop/start bits rhythm and vocal loops. A+

Saskatoon, Canada band Close Talker execute well on “For The Sun” in the UK-derived yearning indie genre that we at B3 adore very much. “For The Sun”s generally rhythm-driven composition provides the right frame for neat swerves of harmony and reverbed guitars that thematically weave nicely with the vocal melody’s rich tones. Close Talker’s sophomore LP Flux is out December 8th
