The Maccabees space things on the cosmic sounding “Feel to Follow”. Beginning with a feel-good melody and rhythm figure, the track builds into an excellent cinematic-sounding closing instrumental. Give the sharp “Feel to Follow” your attention below.

The Maccabees rolled through the BBC’s Live Lounge today and dropped this neat, borderline cinematic take on their track for “Child”.

Oh hi. So The Maccabees, owners of b3sci’s #4 track of 2009 returned today with “Pelican”. For starters, “Pelican” is noticeably more upbeat, uptempo, lighter, than much of the material on The Maccabees last LP Wall of Arms. Is “Pelican” is a sign of what’s to come on LP #3? We like the darker Maccabees; but if the quality on a potentially more “keyed up” new LP is at a level with “Pelican” consider us, at the very least, interested to hear more.

here at b3sci, christmas comes early! we’re on our santa claus shit (see photo) spreading good cheer, shouting “ho ho ho”, and today coming correct with a double dose of bangers. roots manuva goes in over the maccabees’ “no kind words”, a b3sci fav from earlier this year. and our bro-ham astronote remixes dabrye & doom’s “air” (another b3sci fav!). lets doooooooooooooo it!

The Maccabees – Love You Better
“Love You Better” is the solid first single off UK’s The Maccabee’s new sophomore release Wall Of Arms. “No Kind Words” was our early indicator, and “Love You Better” seals the deal. it’s always a great feeling to hear a new band and become genuinely excited hear the rest of the record.. sadly far and few between qualify nowadays. we’ll keep you posted…

UK newcomers Shy Nature adeptly convey their penchant for kinetic British indie (if bands like Mystery Jets, The Maccabees, Peace, etc are your bag, you’re probably going to be into this) on single “Lie Back”. Shy Nature’s arena-ready (or at least large theater-ready) dreamy melodic guitars and infinitely singable vocal hooks indicate a band capable of lofty heights. “Lie Back” is out Feb 17th on Kissability.

“Youth Blood”, the b-side to the also excellent “Lucifer”, will see a UK release as part of the “Lucifer” single, March 10th on Once Upon a Time records. As Elephants Are uniquely blend the pop sensibilities of bands like Two Door Cinema Club & the theater of The Maccabees through a slightly darkened more visceral lens. We are loving it.
