Seems like there’s about 500 bands with the word “Blood” in their name – Wise Blood, Fake Blood, Surfer Blood, Blood Orange, etc. So some of those bands/act are good, some are OK, some are shit. What separates Blood Diamonds from their Bloody competition? Tracks like “Dreams” are a start. “Dreams” is very much indie 2011, yes, but there is a soul (at least in this track) that other similar sounding bands (without Blood in their names lol) sort of lack or at least don’t have enough of. “Dreams” will make you feel something. Even if its “that was OK.” or “pretty good”. You’ll leave the track with SOMETHING.

Straight away off the heels of their blogosphere smash “Zimbabwe” Aussies New Navy ready the “Uluwatu” EP (from which “What Was Golden” is excerpted). The boys’ unique mix of pop songwriting, indie musicality and electronic references make them a band you definitely want to keep a close watch on.

Opinions on the rest of Aerosmith’s catalogue aside, “Dream On” basically was the power ballad prototype and has, at least for me, existed sort of separate from Aerosmith’s other songs (in that its actually listenable). Still we love ya ST!
