OUTFIT – Every Night I Dress Up As You / Firemen Don’t Fly

outfit

The gentle soul of Arthur Lee reincarnates on “Every Night I Dress Up As You”, debut banger by Liverpudlian five piece Outfit. The drummer’s a producer according to their abeano.com interview, so the polished sound is their autonomous product as opposed to an iron fist ruling behind the curtain. Androgynous song title + related band name = interest generated! Another track, “Killer”, is almost more impressive since it’s a deep cut as opposed to a single, the kind of track that really fantastic bands use for filler, which makes me think they can write an album as good as Heaven up Here in a year or two. Outfit’s present anonymity allows us to more fully appreciate their ability to make creative dynamism appear effortless. Take “Firemen Don’t Fly” for example. Well done lads – I’m expecting something really proper next! – by Chris Gedos

Martin Solveig – The Night Out

solveig

One of the first jams I immediately went for the repeat button on in a couple weeks. Our buddies at SKOA just called “hit” on this new Martin Solveig track. We are seconding. “The Night Out” is big. UK Top 40 big. And likely one of Summer 2011’s most remixed tracks. Stay tuned.

Wretch 32 – Don’t Go (Feat. Josh Kumra)

Wretch’s latest got the “Hottest Record in the World” treatment from Zane Lowe on his Radio 1 show today. “Don’t Go” features the London MC giving it to you real on pulsing yet smooth, laid back beat. Josh Kumra chips in with some Chris Martin-esque vocal stylings on the hook. Check it below.

ceelo

The latest from Rave On the big Buddy Holly covers project. Following joints by The Black Keys, Florence and the Machine, and My Morning Jacket, here’s everybody’s favorite red & black-adorned Voice judge. We love it. You love it. But what would Xtina A. think? We know Blake Shelton’s feeling it. Argggggghhhh

Here goes a bit more bothered take on the DJ Khaled/Drake blog jam. Wobbly in all the right ways and laced with some most excellent synth flourishes, Lisbon-based duo Karetus’ remix of “I’m On One” is a keeper.
