Forgive my total ineptitude/laziness with regards to research, but did Avicii’s version sample Pretty Lights first, or did Pretty Lights sample Avicii? Because I don’t see any credit to PL anywhere on the blogs so I wanted to get my facts straight.

@ali, If you are referring to the vocals, Neither PL or Avicii sampled off each other, the vocals come from a much older song (I dont know the name). Hope i helped!

They both sampled the same song “Something’s Got a Hold on Me” by Etta James. Flo Rida has as well, but I believe that the the Pretty Lights version was released first, then Avicii, then Flo Rida.

Pretty Lights sampled the riff (taken from an Etta James song) on the track Finally Moving on his debut album in 2006. Avicii was only 16 at the time. Avicii went on to sample it from Pretty Lights’ song, and then the sample was officially ruined when Flo Rida sampled Avicii. I bet Pretty Lights is one pissed off dude at this point.
