philly/LA artist shalonda’s newly released “just go…a mixtape” melds american songbook melodies (fever, misty, god bless the child) with modern hip hop beats. we’re psyched! our fav from the tape is “dey know it’s summertime” which marries the classic gershwin lines of “summertime” with the beat of shawty lo’s “dey know” record. the track fuckin kills! aside from “dey know it’s summertime”, the rest of the mixtape is jammed with bangers. we’re too digging on the “fever/day n nite” and “house of the rising sun/umi says” blends. and oh but wait….that ain’t all! the mixtape is totally FREE! yeah! so get hip to a uniquely creative artist and download that shit here. shouts to soulbounce!
