Interview: Boy Azooga

Chatted with Dave Newington who played all instruments on the critically-acclaimed “1, 2, King Fu” album. That is, except for his dad adding some violin. This was their first LA show and we hung out at The Echo before the set. Lots happened for them this year in their native UK and they’ll return to the US in March for SXSW along with a more extensive tour.

Premiere: Blasko – Japanese Hotel

New from Melbourne AU artist and producer Blasko is “Japanese Hotel”. A cool blend of darker R&B-inspired tones and a French house-leaning main break, “Japanese Hotel” was inspired by a dream. Blasko says, “‘Japanese Hotel’ was written about a dream I had. I never remember dreams, but I remember waking up after this one, saying. “Woah.. I need to write a song about this”. A+ track. MICHELLE – Stuck On U

That “you’ve got me overwhelmed” melodic turn, those bits of jazzy piano, “STUCK ON U”, new-ish from New York band MICHELLE is a very nice piece of indie songwriting that deserves your attention below.
