Drake – How About Now (WYLN Edit)

One of the blogworld’s hottest remixers right now is WYLN. Here, the Montreal producer takes to Drake’s freshly leaked Jodeci-borrowing “How About Now” with a late 90’s R&B re-styling fit for ’98 Ms. Haughton or ’98 Ms. Knowles.

Cambio Sun – Mad As They Come

cambiosun

19-year-old singer-songwriter/producer Cambio Sun just dropped the dreamy and expansive electro-folk track “Mad as They Come”; which is the third release from upcoming debut EP, “Reticent” (slated to be out later this month). B3SCI recently introduced the eclectic talents of the young Aussie-turned-Londoner (as both artist and producer) with the EP’s beautifully cumbersome premiere track ”Weight of the World”. The latest track “Mad as They Come” is an irresistibly resonant melodramatic keeper with a catchy lyrical mantra, jovial interludes of folk-guitar and unmistakably delicate falsetto vocals; the resulting combination (when blended with a blaring synth, subtle grounding percussion and a blatant cello) brilliantly emotes a seductively glum depth of perception that (especially with the surprise ending) feels like waking up inside a dream. Young and Sick – Ghost of a Chance (RAC Remix)

youngandsick2

It’s Pretty easy for labels now a days to decide who should lead off a remix album/EP, especially when your decision includes in its calculus, the king of hype machine, RAC. On the remix, RAC paints another beautiful masterpiece around an already lovely electronic pop piece by NY-based Young & Sick. “Ghost of a Chance” evokes a sense of cool and strut that would assuredly leave the queens and kings of disco smiling and finishes with a bass line that is one of the smoothest around. Soft Touch – Get On Up (Feat. Kianah)

softtouch

Soft Touch is the BK duo of Stones Throw artist Chrome Canyon and ex-VHS or Beta Feel Saarid. The funky “Get On Up” takes cues from a varied melange of rhythm music including disco, R&B, and Nu Shooz (I Can’t Wait). If that sounds up your street (it’s most definitely up ours) and then you’ll want to give “Get On Up” your attention below.

Rave’s Fave: Digitalism – Wolves (Feat. Youngblood Hawke)

digitalism

These consistent Hamburg peeps are back, sporting a perfect blend of electro and pop. It’s a fine comeback following a couple of quiet years. With help from Youngblood Hawke, Digitalism deliver a track that is immediately hooky and melodic. I can see it having mainstream success if given the chance by radio. Reviewed by Bruce Rave.

Lil Sad – Submerged

Delightfully elusive producer duo Lil Sad (who graced the world earlier this year with their breakout remix of “Nevermind the End” by Tei Shi) serendipitously drop the cinematic slow-burner “Submerged” which is wrought with simplicity and an irresistibly-deep driving beat; a beautifully understated track.
