Ty Dolla $ign – Stand For (Prod. Diplo & DJ Dahi)

tydollasign

Diplo dials up the “Climax drums” for hitmaker Ty Dolla $ign’s anthemic new one “Stand For”. As big a track as Hip Hop #1 “Paranoid” was for Ty Dolla’s career, “Stand For” is decidedly not the monochromatic club-ready “Paranoid”; it’s ambitious and it’s outside current rap radio’s comfortable DJ Mustard zone. We love it.

Ghostface Killah – Love Don’t Live Here No More

ghostface

Welcome back Ghostface. “Love Don’t Live Here No More” features a doo-wop-y soul instrumental that Ghost could body in his sleep/while he was dinning/doing his taxes, etc. 36 Seasons is the new LP from Ghostface Killah, out December 9th on Tommy Boy Records.

Ca$h Out – Go Get That Dough (Feat. Snoop Dogg)

cashout

Ca$h Out, the author of hip hop radio staple “Cashin’ Out”, is nearly unrecognizable on “Go Get That Dough”. Spacious and minimal in its instrumental and featuring Snoop Dogg Bro (who can still actually rap), “Go Get That Dough” is creative and progressive and interesting in ways that the monochromatic DJ Mustard-dominated rap radio isn’t.

Drake – How About Now

drake3

The latest exercise in Drake’s relationship rap hit the internet over the weekend. The Jodeci-sampling (and possibly unauthorized leak) “How About Now” is a strong version of a familiar Drake trope of love lost/gone bad. Views From The Six is Drake’s upcoming fourth studio LP.

Run The Jewels – Close Your Eyes (Feat. Zack De La Rocha)

runthejewels

RTJ share Zack De La Rocha collaboration “Close Your Eyes” from forthcoming second EP. To get big bro De La Rocha on tape these is not the easiest ask so any feature from the former Rage Against the Machine vocalist is rare real estate. Here, a looped ZDLR provides “Close Your Eyes” its main (heater of a ) hook. “RTJII” is out October 28th on Mass Appeal.
