Rave’s Fave: The Record Company – Tallahassee Lassie (Freddie Cannon)

The Record Company has been one of LA’s fastest rising bands with their blend of blues and Americana. They kill live, and just concluded a successful November residency at The Satellite. It’s their tradition to end with a rocking cover, and last Monday’s show concluded with “Tallahassee Lassie”, which was a 60’s hit for Freddie “Boom Boom” Cannon. The crowd was all over this one, singing along with the chorus. The band recorded an EP of cover songs including this one, so check out their Facebook page for more info. By Bruce Rave

Only Real – Backseat Kissers

Londoner Only Real will release his discordantly melodic debut single “Backseat Kissers” in early December via ASL records. The track is more boisterous and feel-good pop than his usual mix of atmospheric undergroove and off-the-wall freestyling, while still featuring Only Real’s trademark fuzzy vocal quality, catchy hook, and strikingly delicate guitar chords. After a few spins this one leaves you feelin’ right-straight and hella good. By Erin Feathers

Rave’s Fave: Madness – Never Knew Your Name

A new Madness album is always good news, and yet again the dudes have dropped a good one on us. “Death of a Rude Boy” is the cool single from OUI OUI SI SI JA JA DA DA and album goes quite a bit deeper than that. My favorite is “Never Knew Your Name” because it has a softer touch, with smooth melodies and some nice strings. By Bruce Rave

Young Kato – Break Out

Young Kato just might be looking to break out of sorts with this new track from their forthcoming debut EP. At their average youthful age of 18’ish, and having already gigged with the likes of UK heavy hitters such as Spector, the Cheltenham six piece is already finding itself a loyal following on the UK live circuits. “Break Out” packs heaps of commercial viability and power rotation ambition, so sing along and look out for Young Kato in 2013.

The Neighbourhood – Let It Go

The Neighbourhood took to the airwaves of Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show earlier today to debut new track “Let It Go”. Compact, precise & hooky as f “Let It Go” is emblematic of this urban-influenced indie sort of sound being executed at its highest level.

Panama – All Over The World

On the heels of their excellent track “It’s Not Over” which recently garnered some well deserved internet attention, Aussie group Panama hits it again with a fresh, lively fusion of electro nuance and proper disco flair. “All Over The World” celebrates 80’s synth-pop proper and offers a striking danceable debut track for their new signing deal with Future Classic. Check it out. By Erin Feathers

Sailor & I – Tough Love (Lucas Turschmann Edit)

Lucas Turschmann’s new edit of “Tough Love” comes replete with the requisite sun-kissed melodrama that is a direct hit toward the radar of the b3 crew. This edit is BEAUTIFUL and a definite must listen.

Lovelier Other – Leave This Behind

“Leave This Behind” is a track best explored through listening than explaining. With emphasis on delicacy and cohesive melody, the song finds a heartfelt stride in electronic inspired lullaby. Lovelier Other showcase a steady adeptness towards delay-spinkled atmospheres. Stay tuned for more to come from this little known collective that we presume comes to us by way of Iceland.

Abbe May – Karmageddon

Australian singer songwriter Abby May turns all end of the world with her new album Kiss My Apocalypse, which is set to release April 2013. The album’s first single “Karmagedden” is a shadowy feat of veiled affection with beautiful sultry vocals and wise sassier-than-thou lyrics. Although the track is a bit of a departure from her usual ruckus of shrieking guitars and bluesy rock, May smoothly delves into the realm of doom pop femme fatale and really captures a dark and elusive come-hither vibe that is worth checking out. Icona Pop – I Love It (Solidisco Remix)

Icona Pop’s floor filler “I Love It” gets one more turn c/o Solidisco, an artist that’s quickly became a favorite here at b3sci. Solidisco’s mix is nu-disco to the nth for sure, but it isn’t predictable. The early changes and progressions and rhythmic maneuvers in the track are awesome and totally not in the direction we thought the track might go. Very good.
