Tora – High Enough

tora

Tora, a 5 peice band whose name is based on the Greek word ‘τώρα’ meaning now, just released a gorgeous new chillwave single called “High Enough” which according to group member Jo Lowenthal is about “missing somebody and feeling like the distance between you both is getting bigger”. With its subtle astoundingly-refined vocals and brightly-metered melodic charm “High Enough” highlights the unique, beautifully balanced sound of the unsigned New South Wales, Australia group who just began their European tour; that includes a June 28th gig at England’s Glastonbury Festival where they play along with a variety of new acts like the amazing Jack Garratt as well as some big names and classics like The Who, Pharrel Williams, and Glass Animals. Chiara Hunter – Strange Relationships

chiarahunter

London-based Australian Chiara Hunter is the pop-funk songstress who recently teamed up with the likes of producers Snakehips, The Dealer and Bearcubs to create new music. Chiara also just released her solo career debut track “Strange Relationships” which is a beautifully translated 80’s throwback Prince cover with a modern synthy future-funk backdrop and perfectly-sultry vintage pop vibe vocals that resonate and measure up to other current 80/90’s retro-leaning pop artists such as Blood Orange, Shura and Sky Ferreira. Katelyn Tarver – Nobody Like You

katelyntarver

Tune into the discernible poppy sugar-coated emotional angst lyrics and expressive heart-on-the-sleeve vocal prowess of LA-based Georgian-born indie pop songstress Katelyn Tarver on her excellent new guitar-driven track “Nobody Like You”; which is the second song from Miss Tarver’s upcoming debut album (out on Universal) that was produced with the expertise of producer Ludwig Goransson (Childish Gambino/Haim). “Nobody Like You” is a terrific attention grabber follow-up track to the album’s first-release pop hit “Weekend Millionaires” from earlier this year and a brightly lit indicator that we have more to look forward to from this stellar rising-star pop talent. BETS – Jenny (Feat. Kiddo)

bets

Bi-coastal, all-girl, indie pop band BETS recently made a name for themselves with their awesome 2014 album-debut track “Don’t Give A F#Ck” which is the first single off the group’s upcoming “Days Hours Nights” EP. On the EPm’s second release “Jenny”, BETS and Kiddo team up to create a gorgeous truly subtle track which stands out for its cheery melodic instrumentals, hazyily mumbled vocals and cheeky lyrics about a one night stand in Paris (which judging from the group’s new video looks like fun). Good stuff BETS, we’re listening.

Miya Folick – Strange Darling

“Strange Darling” is the new dazzling-vocaled ethereal synth-tinged grunge-folk single from gifted OC singer-songwriter-musician Miya Folick who’s gorgeous, deeply moody all-consuming track “Talking With Strangers” B3SCI premiered in April. Miya has blown us away again with her amazing artistic sensibilities as both a musician and vocalist on “Strange Darling”; which she says is about meeting that special person who makes you say “Where did you come from? Are you an alien? I love you”. “Strange Darling” is a multidimensional catchy mesh of slide guitars, synth interludes and some one-of-a-kind dry-wit lyrics which thanks to the emotive Miya are wrought with that lovely authentic vulnerable vocal quality intrinsic and necessary to great folk music. After listening to all three of her tracks including B3 featured track “I Got Drunk”, we are totally digging the signature grunge-folk sound of Miya Folick which is something between Joan Baez and Fiona Apple in character. Enjoy! Reviewed by Erin Shay.
