The Night VI – Turn Your Light On Me

TURN YOUR LIGHT ON ME artwork by Anna Pesquidous and THE NIGHT VI

“Turn Your Light On Me” is excerpted from an as of yet untitled EP forthcoming in September from The Night VI. Nearly from moment one on the track, vocalist Sophie-Rose Harper’s warm alto pulls you immediately to the track. While not having so much in common sonically, there’s something about the urgency and styling of the track’s syncopation that reminds in the best way of Fleetwood Mac. Well done.

Peter Lyons – Leave Me

peterlyons

Peter Lyons, formerly of duo Peter & Kerry, latest solo track is the cinematic pop of “Leave Me”. Dynamic swells of strings and synth atmopspheres, a low touch rhythm track, and a vocal as a component of the instrumental ensemble aesthetic highlight “Leave Me”‘s A+ production and composition. “Leave Me” is the lead track from Peter Lyons’ forthcoming EP.

Ben Khan – 1000

benkhan2

Ben Khan marks a strong return with the two-step bounce of new EP title track “1000”. Reminding a bit of Kelis & Andre 3000’s “Millionaire” in aesthetic, “1000” is long on a similar quality progressiveness and tunefulness that made Khan’s debut “1992” EP so excellent. “1000” is out May 11.

Premiere: Max Jury – Home

MAX JURY 2015

“Home” is new from Des Moines, IA artist Max Jury. The 21-year old’s wistful piano-driven “Home” reminds a bit thematically of Elton John or even Paul McCartney at their more vulnerable moments. “Home” really impresses on its beautifully simple melodic phrasings and warm instrumentation. We love it. Mr. Jury has a new EP in the works and will be in Austin next week for several performances at SXSW.

HÆLOS – Earth Not Above

haelos

“Earth Not Above” is the second track from background info-scarce UK act HÆLOS. On “Earth Not Above”, the band take current trends in UK electronic music and an infuse a Massive Attack/ latter-days Depeche Mode-styled sense of space and fidelity creating a cool and (most mercifully) refreshing sound.
