Sunken – Swoon

New to B3 is Sunken, a UK band fronted by Poppy Billingham. Linked up with Handsome Dad Records and set to support Puma Blue on an upcoming tour, Sunken’s new track “Swoon” is a further step forward – matching a cool alto main vocal to jazzy magnetic and spacious production.

Kendra Morris – Summertime

Oh yeah, we can most definitely get behind this one. For “Summertime” NYC singer Kendra Morris is outfitted in a perfectly paced mid-tempo instrumental, an excellent pairing for Morris’ main vocal melody which is as cool as the summer is long. Allllllll right.

JMSN – Talk Is Cheap

JMSN streams “Talk Is Cheap” from forthcoming Velvet project. We’re very much behind this one. “Talk Is Cheap” is a a mid-tempo minor-keyed jammer 70’s soul/ W Coast hip-hop flavored little number delivered just in time for the maddest weeks of summer.

Kelechi – Bag (Feat. Phay)

Q: Who’s in the bag? A: Kelechi. The Atlanta artist tees-up a headnodder/earworm that we can’t stop spinning at B3.

Agency – Exponents [EP]

The neo-soul duo Agency has put out “Exponents”, an EP full of experimental and meandering R&B. The fourth track off the release, “is there some other version of my story?,” is full of polyphonies that billow in and out of a brooding dissonance. With the fuzzy organ backing, there’s an undeniable Frank Ocean resemblance. And yet its sound is still fresh—not without its own center of gravity. Stream “Is There Some Other Version of My Story?” from “Exponents” below.

Kodiak Soul – The Lives We Choose

Up and coming Atlanta based producer, Kodiak Soul just dropped some chill downtempo jams that I’m loving. His second EP to date “The Lives We Choose” bridges the gaps between electronic and hip-hop in a tasteful, warm way that seems perfect for any occasion. From rainy afternoons to sunny beach days, throw on this eclectic electronic EP. Stream “High Spirits” excerpted here from “The Lives We Choose” below.

Haich – Peak

The London producer Haich is back with another kaleidoscopic alt R&B single. In just 4 minutes, the artist layers a sophisticated microcosm of analog synths grinding against sampled vocal harmonies. A high pitched loop arpeggiates, giving voice to a kind of synthetic apprehension. “Peak” is dark, poignant, and gloriously dystopian.

Caine Casket – Domino

Newcomer Caine Casket sets “Domino” to a space-driven instrumental framed up by delayed key stabs and a subtly kinetic bit of bass and snare. We’re into it.

Shaqdi – Obvious

A new favorite around B3-World is UK singer Shaqdi. “Obvious”, Shaqdi’s latest song – a dreamy R&B-tinged track, does well by its low-touch rhythm track and synth stabs to frame up and showcase her excellent alto vocals. “Obvious” is out now.
