Zak Abel – Say Sumthin

zakabel

In February B3 covered top-talent singer-songwriter Zak Abel for his refreshingly-soulful Rudimental-esque Joker-produced debut-EP track called “Alchemy”. We’re completely into his vocals yet again on new track “Say Sumthin” which is Zak Abel’s newest Kaytranada-produced creation which (in our eyes) beautifully expresses his catchy songwriting appeal and rising-star-potential cheery sugary-sweet melodic Rudimental-esque style vocals. Of course we also love the retro-vibe synth-y emotive strings-led ethereal-ambient instrumental handiwork of B3 fave producer Kaytranada. Great collaboration. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Skylar Spence – Cash Wednesday

skylarspence

Skylar Spence put his debut album out on Friday and what a grand entrance it was. Prom King is an album that I will be listening to for years to come (possibly one of the best of 2015). From top to bottom, “Can’t You See”, “Fall Harder”, “Fiona Coyne” and “I Can’t Be Your Superman”, this is an album the internet should get behind. Scope my favorite track “Cash Wednesday” below, 2:31 of pure fun. Reviewed by Tony Perkis.

Autograf – Running

autograf

We adore the soulfully upbeat spicy-sweet vocals of “Running” a sensationally-spirited club-ready tropics-inspired melodic-house original track from Chicago producer fave Autograf who surprisingly only has one other original track out called “Dream” (which was mixed by B3-fave Pat Lok). We like the mixed-media pop-art project that serves as the artwork for the song. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Astronauts, Etc. – Rocket Man (Feat. Toro y Moi)

astronauts

B3 fave Oakland five-member indie pop band Astronauts, etc. (which is led by frontman vocalist Anthony Ferraro) team up with pal Toro Y Moi for a stellar-sound guitar-riffing 70’s lounge-funk-inspired cover of “Rocket Man” which we especially appreciate for its scintillating uplifting-vibe keyboard melody. The Elton cover follows Astronauts, etc.’s soulful emotive-approached “Shake it Loose”, the fourth track to stream off their upcoming debut full-length album Mind Out Wandering which is streaming now (and is awesome) on Hype Machine and hits stores officially on September 18th. Just Chris – Faded Gold (Feat. Annalisa Walters)

justchris

We’re into the super-sultry delicate vocal style touches of songstress Annalisa Walters and the sweet n’ sonorous hip-hop/r&b instrumentals of “Faded Gold”, a track from 20-year-old London-based musician (rapper/pianist/cellist) Just Chris who artfully adds his own slow-method mellow-mood rapper style to the mix. abhi//dijon – Him

abhidijon3

We last covered B3 duo-fave abhi//dijon for their perfectly-sultry r&b slow-burner “Like A Bird” which is a single off the duo’s recently-released very-excellent Stay Up EP. We dig the duo’s delicate r&b good-vibes sentimentality and romance-centered mindset on the lot of “Stay Up” yet are drawn to several tracks in particular. We like the exquisitely stylized hip-hop beats/r&b hybrid production dynamics of the EP’s first single “Wait” (discussed on B3 in July), the gorgeous short and sweet acoustic guitar led track “Him” (featured here) and the EP’s final track called “Apple Pie” which adds a nice soft and sultry melodic jazz-inspired finish to the album. HONNE – No Place Like Home

honne_001

B3 favorite UK dynamo duo HONNE have hit our pages many times this year with their supremely smooth vibrantly-emotive intensely-moving sexy-sultry vocal-led pop. Earlier this week HONNE hit the blog scene with the full dose of their new four-song “Over Lover” EP which features three uniquely awesome new tracks to follow the EP’s very good on-point (B3 lauded) recent release first single “Loves The Jobs You Hate”. We especially dig the sound of “No Place Like Home” the duo’s vividly-sensuous receptive-vulnerable Jones-vocaled track from the EP for its warm over-the-top romantic sense of true attraction and extremely lovely warm-hug-vibe melodic vocal duet. Not surprisingly, we love the very excellent sweet-spectrum of emotions and sounds on “Over Lover” and recommend it whole heartedly. Top quality stuff HONNE. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Astronauts, Etc. – Shake It Loose

astronauts

In June B3 covered Oakland five-member indie pop band Astronauts, etc. (which is led by frontman vocalist Anthony Ferraro) for their low-key wordy gem track “Eye To Eye”. We’re pleased to run across the band’s slightly-more-soulful emotive-approached new one called “Shake It Loose” a receptive vocal-led jam that draws at our attentions with its touching heart-strings-attached lyrical feels and moody-sultry melodic vocals. Another timeless piece of phenomenally straightforward profound material “Shake it Loose” is the fourth track to release off Astronauts, etc.’s upcoming debut full-length album Mind Out Wandering which is out on September 18th.
