Future – I Won (Different Sleep Remix)

kimkanye

Chicago-based DJ/Producer Different Sleep hits the web with a slowed down flip of the backside ode “I Won” by Future and Kanye West. The vibe-y very very good remix is one more reason why the internet has so strongly gravitated to this young whiz they call Sleep. This is baby making music right here.

Marz Leon – LONER

marzleon

Marz Leon fires a forceful opening sortie on the megaton intense R&B of debut song “LONER”. Marz on “LONER” exudes a ferocity and visceral quality that is powerful and singular and easily differentiates and separates her from lesser artists in a crowded genre.

Johnny Stimson – Sugar

stimson

Nobody beats Stimson. The stylistically adventurous Dallas-based singer latest confection is the synth-pop/soul hybrid “Sugar”. Heavy at the start but chewy and delectable in its R&B-driven chorus middle, “Sugar” finds Mr. Stimson unrelenting in his consistency of delivering the highest quality goods.

Bondax – All I See

bondax8

Team Bondax return today with the more early 90’s dance-leaning sound exhibited on recent singles on “All I See”. A well-executed modernized version of that Bush I-administration sound, we expect to hear “All I See” to bumping out our nearest H&M or Zara all summer long.

Snakehips – Days With You (Feat. Sinead Harnett)

sineadharnett2

Snakehips continues to produce tracks at a very high level with latest collaboration. On “Days With You”, the semi-anon UK producer duo is joined by the quickly rising Sinead Harnett who’s impressed recently on vocal features for Rudimental and Ryan Hemsworth. “Days” operates within a 2014 sweet spot zone of a hip-hop referencing rhythm track outfitted with warm house instrumental textures and a female-led R&B-styled vocal. “Days With You” is out on August 25th on new label Hoffman West.

Nao – So Good

nao

New favorite Nao teams with A.K. Paul (yes, brother of Jai Paul) for the buzzblog wheelhouse (and quite strong) sound of “So Good”. Taste that Zeitgeist, mmmmmmm.

Jessie Ware – Tough Love

jessieware

The Great Jessie makes her return with “Tough Love”. Ware, who broke-out in 2012 on the strength of her top-to-bottom strong Devotion LP, maneuvers in a bit less direct space on “Tough Love”. While the impact of Jessie’s great diction and visceral quality is still very much at the forefront with the new song, “Tough Love” the minimal vocal + beats approach from LP 1 is less at the fore. We like the slight turn in sound and are of course excited for what is next in new material from Jessie Ware. “Tough Love” is out August 3rd on PMR.

Elder Island – The Big Unknown

eldersland

“The Big Unknown” is the second track from hotly tipped rhythm pop act Elder Island upcoming self-titled debut EP. Relevant to 2014 in sound while still maintaining a mainly singular style, “The Big Unknown” is a nicely executed combination of genres within the context of an A+ tune. July 28 is the date to know for the Elder Island EP on Four Thieves Records.

The impressive Phoria follow up the great “Undone” with another superlative track with the ethereal and obtuse (and no spaces) “Efforttobreathe”. Phoria’s “Display” EP is out now on X Novo.

Nick Hakim – Cold

hakim

Hakim, who wow’d us earlier in the year with the stunning “Pour Another”, impresses again with the wonderfully soulful “Cold”. If the great D’Angelo were releasing music in 2014, we reckon the wistful organ-driven “Cold” might would sound right in league with Mr. Archer’s (much sought for) hypothetical oeuvre. It also means “Cold” is a really great song. Nick Hakim’s s/t debut EP is out July 14th on Earseed Records.
