PREP – Sunburnt Through the Glass

prep

“Sunburnt Through the Glass” is the second single from new band out of London PREP. While the details thusfar around the band are scant, the focus of familiarity through this track (“Sunburn Through the Glass”) is well executed on. Right, the kernel of nearly every great pop song is the melodic/structural familiarity of its main hook(s) (maybe it’s my own listening bias but there’s definitely a bit of School of Noel in the particular turns of the verse’s main vocal melody). Couple that with a modern Jungle, Honne, Leisure-styled chorus and you have a very likely candidate for a buzz track. We dig it.

Sango – Dias Melhores (Interludio)

sango3

B3’s beat maker favorite Sango brings in his signature melange of phenomenal sophisticated beats and meshes them seamlessly with whimsical Latin-pizzazz female vocals on lusophone new track “Dias Melhores” (we swear she’s saying zanahoria). Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Braxton – Aspidistra

braxton

The awesome new track “Aspidistra” is the charismatically-artsy turbulent-synth-driven deep-house b-side dance track from Brighton-based MTA Records rep’d rising-star artist Braxton. Excellent. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Figgy – Make Me Feel

figgy

Lose yourself in fabulous disco-biased abandon with “Make Me Feel” a stunning vintage Blue Notes-sampling 70’s-vibe dance track which is first in a series of five disco edits from B3-featured NYC-based house/disco/soul production artist Figgy (who we discussed in March for his vibrantly catchy electro-soul dance revamp of Le Youth’s Brandy-sampling standout “Real”). Yuuca – Melt

yuuca

Get familiar with Brisbane, AU multi-talented six-piece multi-instrumental dream pop group Yuuca who just released their amazing second original single “Melt” a mild-natured indie-instrumentals-driven track that we’re enjoying for its spectacular beautifully-emotive syrupy-sweet deep-dreamy harmonic layered vocal atmospheres. We indeed look forward to hearing more from new-find Yuuca (who we think sound a touch like the Sundays). Reviewed by Erin Shay.

We’re caught up on the sensational dynamically-simple clamoring-metallic piano-drenched meld of lovely instrumental ambiances on “La Nuit” the latest jazz-inspired melodic beauty from B3 recent-highlight Canadian artist JOSEPH L’ÉTRANGER, a low-profile producer who we covered in September for his deeply soulful stunning-radiant jazzy-sultry luxurious-entrancing keyboard driven gem “Forest Shrine”. Premiere: Alek Fin – Án Mynda (Anthony Valadez Remix)

alekfinanthonyvaladez

“Án Mynda” (or in English “Without Form”) is the title track from SoCal-based artist Alek Fin’s very good just released new EP. Here, Fin connects with KCRW DJ (and one of our favorite DJs on the planet) Anthony Valadez for a stunning and quieting new mix for “Án Mynda”. Incorporating live instrumentation and a perfectly hewn timbre and sound fidelity, AV’s beautifully layered mix unwinds cool new textures of pieces of composition at each new turn of the track. We love it. Enjoy the B3SCI Premiere of Anthony Valadez’s remix of Alek Fin’s “Án Mynda” below.

Owen Rabbit – Denny’s

owenrabbit

Welcome Owen Rabbit out of Melbourne AU to B3SCI. “Denny’s”, not about the home of the $8 Grand Slam Slugger, is the follow-up to Mr. Rabbit’s cool breakthrough debut “Holy Holy” (which we somehow missed! oops!). “Denny’s” is a glitchy heavily-syncopated indie pop number with some clever and subtly very catch pop hook construction underneath. We dig that and we dig “Denny’s”. Listen below.

LEISURE – Take It To The Top

B3 lauded Auckland NZ collective LEISURE follow up their artfully arranged catchy-accessible tune “Hot Love” with a golden-guitar grooved new one called “Take It To The Top”, which caught our ear with its strong-melodics, technicolor synth accents and absolutely-LEISURE instrumentally stunning bass-heavy boogie-down good vibes. Hydeout Productions, the folks behind now deceased B3-favorite Japanese hip-hop maverick Nujabes, surprises fans with the release of a new brilliantly lyrical jazzy-horn-laced instrumentals-centered remix of L-Universe’s spin on “Asteroid Love”, Nujabes’ excellent rhyme flowing hip-hop soundscape from back in the day (very good track as well). We’re marveling at the song’s quintessential pure-genius Nujabes smoothness and relaxing sunny-day sentiments. Superb. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Goodbye Tomorrow – 2 Many

goodbyetomorrow2

Goodbye Tomorrow got my attention when they released their debut album A Journey Through the Mind of a Non Believer a couple of months ago. Goodbye Tomorrow is the definition of the artistic idea that work rather than hype speaks for itself. Virtually everything is unknown about who Goodbye Tomorrow is except for their music, their mission, and where they are from. The song displayed: “2 Many” is a production heavy expression of defiance whose lyricism sets out to deconstruct societal norms. Check them out on their Goodbye Tomorrow Live Beta Test tour coming to Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. Reviewed by Jake Goldstein.
