Glass Animals & Joey Bada$$ – Lose Control

glassanimalsjoeybad

English shadowy-r&b-centered psychedelic-pop-leaning muted-atmospheric electronic indie rock four-piece band Glass Animals (who have also previously teamed up with the likes of other odd match hip-hop recording artists Rome Fortune and Chester Watson) joins forces with B3 fave Brooklyn-based hip-hop street-flow-dynamo Joey Bada$$ on the excellent new Yellowman-sampling stunner called “Lose Control” which we highly recommend for its artful brew of colorful dramatically-slow-going electro effects and phenomenally dynamic Joey Bada$$ dominated vocal musings. Great collaboration. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

KAYLOO – Radar

kayloo

We’re digging the eclectic French-electro sonic sentiments of Paris producer KAYLOO on his new brilliantly picturesque vintage-vibe jazz-horn-infused whimsical-hip-hop-beats-saturated Darker Than Wax-rep’d instrumental jam which is appropriately called “Radar”. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

We love the intricately-woven brightly-laced wide-eyed cinematic scope and superbly-emotive groovy-guitar-fed horn-dazzled reverby-synth-tickled instrumental fundamentals of new gem track “”Phyllis” from NYC funk band Lettuce. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Raury – Forbidden Knowledge (Feat. Big K.R.I.T.)

raury

I first discovered Raury when he was on the 2015 XXL freshman class cover. He’s a young kid out of Stone Mountain, Georgia with a unique flair and style of music. His debut album All We Need is about to drop on October 15 and so far it’s going to be dope. Another song from the album dropped today entitled “Forbidden Knowledge” featuring Big K.R.I.T.; on the track, Raury proves his wisdom is beyond his 19 years as he unravels the forbidden memories of his past while trying to find himself in the present. Still Parade – Concrete Vision

stillparade2

Still Parade, the project of Berlin-based musician Niklas Kramer, releases “Concrete Vision”, the first stream from the act’s upcoming debut LP. “Concrete Vision” is a hazy and accessible example of just very good indie pop writing, an accomplished track.

Doja Cat – Men Like Lavender

dojacat

On the heels of her THC-produced early-90’s hip-hop vibe throwback track “Candy Salad” the ever-entertaining LA artist Doja Cat takes the cake with her new freestyle “Men Like Lavender”, a slow burning morose-moody scratchy-melodic tune which is packed with sentiment. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Blondfire – True Confessions

blondfire2

LA band Blondfire, who we covered in 2014 for their dance-y dreamy alt-pop slice of heaven Young Heart LP, comes out with a catchy new one called “True Confessions” which we like for its pop-infused radio-ready sentimentality and excellent straight-forward anthemic-melodic sing-along vocals.
