Keroscene – Cotton Candy

keroscene

London band Keroscene announce debut single “Cotton Candy”. The track marries the noisiness and dark quality of 80’s UK indie and no wave with a more spacious melodic Cocteau Twins-referencing palette.

The Wytches – Weights and Ties

wytches2

“Weights and Ties”, the new single from The Wytches, adeptly blends a classic 50’s/60’s major-minor progression with noisy crackling walls of guitar. It’s a familiar but effective formula and one The Wytches execute quite well. “Weights and Ties” is out December 29th on Heavenly Recordings.

R I T U A L – Amnesia (Feat. Chester Watson)

ritual

The 40-esque minimalist beat pop of “Amnesia” is the third and final track from London newcomers R I T U A L’s “The Fall” EP. “Amnesia”, which features a verse from American rapper Chester Watson, exists in a spacious piano stab-soundtrack nexus between Nothing Was The Same-vintage Drake and UK R&B-derived indie like Bondax.

Warpaint – Feeling Alright (Daughter Remix)

Warpaint

Daughter’s remix for band bestie Warpaint’s “Feeling Alright” is the return remix to Warpaint’s hyperdrive re-do of the Daughter track “Winter”. Daughter’s “Feeling Alright” mix is replete with atmosphere and cinema and ruddered by decisive piano stabs and whirling pieces of percussive guitar.

Fine Print – Can’t Lie

fine print

There must be more to UK new-comers Fine Print than meets the eye. A few weeks back the anonymous collective caught our attention with their debut track “About You” and now their latest “Can’t Lie” gives us something more to latch on to. While more than ever it seems R&B has become the standard go-to inspiration for so many new artists (of all genres), Fine Print so far stand apart from the crowd, with nothing short of grade A pop songs. Something that time and time again has proven the ability to outlast that new car smell which too oft fades away with hotly tipped projects.
