Mr. “Drank in My Cup” Kirko Bangz (the similarly of which to Kurt Cobain took me ages to suss out) is prepping the release of his debut LP Bigger Than Me. The Houston-based Bangz is accompanied on the chill sounds in the cut of “Rich” by mainstream R&B newcomer August Alsina on the hook. We like it.

18 year-old Norwegian producer wonderkid Bearson (who’s remix w/ FlicFlac for Ben Leftwich’s “Pictures” went to #1 on Hypem) excels again on similarly breathy-vocal’d source material UK buzz blog favorite Astronomyy. Bearson’s mix is easy on the ears while still having a bit of bump for the party playlist and the Youtube channels.

Teleman was formed by three members of the former UK band Pete and the Pirates, and “23 Floors Up” is a beauty that comes from their recently released ‘Breakfast’ album. It’s one of 2014’s prettiest tracks to date. The opening lyrics are “Another day waking up with your conscience stuck in your hotel room 23 floors up”. It’s about how people come and go in our lives, and how that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The song’s free flowing feel provides a mode of relaxation that might prompt you to take a slow wander on your own. You never know who or what might be around the corner. By Bruce Rave

The great Duly Noted Records (IYES, Black Honey) ready the July 22nd release of “Wonderlust” the new single from new favorites The Night VI. We’re pleased to premiere this recent acoustic session of “Wonderlust” that is an excellent showcase for the star-level vocals of singer Sophie-Rose Harper.
Commenting on “Wonderlust”, Rose-Harper talked about the track’s creative inspiration, “”Wonderlust is about waiting for true love & a tale of a perfect encounter. My fascination with American Western-style B movies inspired the song”; continuing, “Set in a downtown dive bar filled with junkies and jukeboxes I imagined a woman possessed by her drunken fantasies that have spun out of control and her eccentricity is reeking of desperation. So following in the old country tradition it’s an upbeat song with a sad and bitter core.”

Newly signed to the dope Carpark Records, Saint Pepsi (aka Ryan DeRobertis) strikes the perfect type of throwback sound to satisfy any such massive craving. Most recently St.Pepsi delivered his otherworldly funkified spin on Beat Culture’s “Drifter feat Physic Twin”, and here continues his path towards monsta success with “Fiona Coyne”. “Grace” is the debut single from nascent London UK beats band Zola Blood. Constructed around a very timely rhythm and synth heavy supporting structure, “Grace” gets a bit more exploratory and unique in the ambitiousness (in sprawling indie pop terms) of some of the song’s melodic choices (a more spacious refrain here, a less syncopated countermelody there, etc). In summary, “Grace” is a very good very relevant song from a band that possibly have the writing toolkit suitable for longevity.
