Usher – She Came To Give It To You (Feat. Nicki Minaj)

usher

Mr. Yeaaah Man, and author of one 2014’s best singles “Good Kisser”, is on to another something good with new one featuring Nicki Minaj, “She Came To Give It To You”. Working in a similar mid 70’s Curtis/Marvin palette as the aforementioned “Good Kisser”, “She Came To” wins on its A+ rhythmic sensibility and pocket perfect melodies. We love it.

Naomi Punk – Firehose Face

naomipunk

The dingy minimalist guitar music of “Firehose Face” is previewed below from Olympia WA band Naomi Punk’s forthcoming Television Man LP. Gutty, dissonant and spare “Firehouse Face” is as refreshing as it is deep in the knees visceral. Television Man is out August 5th on the great Captured Tracks.

Prayer – Knowing

prayer

“Knowing” is new from unknown to the internet electronic musician Prayer. The track itself features some definitely interesting swerves to current bass/beats music in the mixing of and tones selected for its rhythm track and the choices in how and where the vocal sample (Madonna’s “Secret”) has been chopped up. For a genre (indie bass music) that’s stagnated a bit; “Knowing”‘s creativity is very welcome.

Guerre – Tuk (Ta-ku Remix)

guerre

Ta-ku outfits Guerre’s obtuse, restrained, and very good “Tuk” single with an excellent new vibed-down instrumental and soft-touch rhythm track. Guerre’s debut album Ex Nihilo is out tomorrow (July 4) on Yes Please & Remote Control.

Golden Coast – Break My Fall

Golden Coast - Break My Fall

“Break My Fall”, new from Golden Coast, is another one for the party playlist that you had perfectly crafted for the coming blowout summer weekend. The duo of Denny White & Steven Mudd paints the perfect picture of what Southern California looks like on a pristine day in this their debut single”. Catchy as all hell, the single oozes dance beats and throwback synths – keep an ear out for more to come from Golden Coast. By Brian Litwin

Olivver – Lucy (Hurt People Hurt People)

olivver

Former NBHD drummer Bryan Sammis a/k/a Olivver impresses again on latest track release “Lucy”. The more synth/electronic-inclined song “Lucy”, rides a staccato 1-2 rhythm track and simple but infectious melodic figure in creating an effective stable of syncopated vocal hooks. Listen.

Sam Lachow – Dreams of Gold (Feat. Raz Simone & Ariana DeBoo)

samlachow

Producer/emcee Sam Lachow debuts on B3 with the A+ chakra rhymes and production of “Dreams of Gold”. Sonically in a lane with UK artists like Raleigh Ritchie and FTSE while still relevant style-wise to a diverse and current palette that can stretch from Soulection to Ty Dolla $, “Dreams of Gold” is excellent and (finally) a fresh injection of creativity into alt-R&B/hip-hop. The Lox – Remember (Feat. Sevyn Streeter)

thelox

The recently reformed 90’s Bad Boy hitmakers The Lox sample Mary J. Blige on soulful new Sevyn Streeter-assited single. “Remember”, features the aforementioned Streeter of recent radio hit “It Won’t Stop” fame on a sweet like sugar hook that provides a silky counterpoint for the gravely Kiss and the downbeat-chomping Louch and P.

Premiere: Jack Garratt – Worry (Jack Garratt Remix)

worryremix

The great Jack Garratt, freshly signed to Turn First (Dan Croll, Laurel, etc), and in ascent following his excellent breakout single “Worry” remixes that very track with stunning results. The soulful ethos at the original “Worry”‘s center is very much intact but what’s been woven into the new instrumental by Garratt through a seamless blend of varying styles and genres (nu-house, 90’s R&B, current pop) is truly fantastic. The new mix’s quality is indicative of the deeply talented artist. Listen to the B3 premiere of Jack Garratt’s new mix for “Worry” below and look for Jack’s Buy Remnants EP out July 14.
