Flume – Intro (Feat. Stalley)

stalley

Beat champ Flume is on a (well-deserved) victory lap releasing a “Deluxe Edition” of his excellent self-titled debut that features bars from Freddie Gibbs, Ghostface, Killer Mike & more. Here the Australian producer/songwriter/magician grabs our man in the 330 Milq City Stalley for a re-up of “Intro”

Darlia – Napalm

darlia

Yes, Darlia (a newish band out of Blackpool UK) sound like Nirvana so lets get that out of the way at the start. Darlia are also very very good, “Napalm” (the standout track from the band’s upcoming “Knock Knock” EP) is bolstered with the energy, attitude and realness that lesser bands (many and most of the band’s genre peers) can only pretend to possess.

COVERS – The Automation

covers

New Melbourne band COVERS release debut single “The Automation”. Musically somewhere between the blissed-out disto guitar textures of Blonde Redhead and the rhythm-driven melodic quality of a Caribou, COVERS win on their A+ tuneful sensibilities, wherein the quality of the band’s writing sets them apart from others in their crowded bliss rock w/ melodies genre. Get with “The Automation” below.

Gentlemen – Children of the Sun

gentlemen

The gloomy skillfully-fashioned minor tones of “Children of the Sun” is the debut release from London band Gentlemen. The psych pop of “Children of the Sun” is nicely galvanized by a neat set of hooks that buoy each of the song’s major sections (incl. an intensely catchy refrain that’s next to impossible not to get caught in your head “We are not the dreamers, we are not the dream that turns you on.., etc etc”. “Children of the Sun” is included on Gentlemen’s upcoming debut EP “Night Reels I” due Nov. 11 on Week of Wonders.

The Swiss – Kiss to Kiss (Amtrac Remix)

theswiss

Australian band The Swiss get their new single for Kitsune remixed in the style of 2013 indie house by blogger favorite Amtrac and it’s quite glorious (and perhaps one of Amtrac’s best remixes to date). The Swiss’ “Kiss to Kiss” single also features remixes from Breakbot and Pyramid and will see a release Nov. 11.

Dan Croll – Home

dan croll home

Dan Croll’s latest is the warm & folky (& very good) “Home”. Outfitted w/ the same skilled pop writing and derived again from Croll’s refreshingly varied musical palette, “Home” is another walkover win for the rising UK artist. “Home” is out November 25.

Future Death – Trickin

future death

Reviewed By Brian Litwin

A friend of mine told me to check this Austin, TX band called Future Death. I took some time to dig into their just released self-titled 7 track EP. I must say I was blown away. The pure energy and raw power of this EP really separated itself from other releases that have came out recently and it was a nice breath of fresh air. The distorted vocals and sporadic drumming work well to create a great first record and would love to see these guys live. Scope “Trickin” below.

Rhye – The Fall (JUSWRHT Remix)

rhye

Reviewed By Brian Litwin

JUSWRHT strikes again. First it was the Drake/Sampha burner “Too Much” now he takes a different route reworking Rhye’s “The Fall”. Needless to say, after one listen we were hooked. Still not much is known about the LA based producer in the public eye, but we’re betting that we expect more great things.

Invasions – Rosy

invasions

We’re really into the surf rock w/ melodies of Toronto band Invasions and their track for “Rosy”. We hope, though, that our Torontonian friends take their beachside rock and roll south for the winter as we’ve been to Toronto in February and that ish is icy; plus we’d love to see these dudes play L.A. Invasions have an LP out October 25th.
