Emerson Leif – Twenty2

“Your mother used to listen to James Brown.” True. We are working under the assumption that Yes! James Brown (may God rest his soul) would dig “Twenty2”, and it would make him “feel good” to listen to. Stream “Twenty2” from Emerson Leif below.

LOYAL – Patterns That Fall

Brighton band LOYAL are cool as hell. There is a lot to like about new track “Patterns That Fall” but that bit that begins at 2:15, the harmonized outro, is just magic. Listen.

Extremely Bad Man – Up With the Birdies

“You call me crazy but I feel this is it.” This Extremely Bad Man jam is it. Released back in June and a component part of the “Love Is Pure” project, “Up With the Birdies” is built on a heavy as hell groove and is one of our favorite tracks of the year.

Donna Missal – Test My Patience

Her reggae-tinged latest “Test My Patience” with its cinema-like dynamics and cool mood is a particularly strong showcase of that breakout/star potential and Missal’s potent voice. Listen below.

Triathalon – Distant

The hazily syncopated “Distant” is new from Brooklyn risers Triathalon. A whirl of low-fi sounds and deep in the PA vocals, “Distant” earns its bread on its strong rhythmic rudder that locks the remaining components of the track to place.

Henry Nowhere – Good Thing

As the Henry Nowhere hype train rolls out the station, the accumulated tracks continue to be very strong. Latest “Good Thing” is a great iteration of the Nowhere sound, on top the PA vocals riding an instrumental of warm reverb’d guitars and hushed drums. Stream “Good Thing” below.
