Haich – Conversations

The brilliant Haich is back with “Conversations,” an eerie single that takes shape through a collage of muddled drum tracks, ominous synths, and chopped and skewed vocal samples. The artist’s voice sweeps over us with a muted foreboding. Bubbly keyboard arpeggiates in the periphery. Tensions rise and we’re left with an enthralling three and a half minutes of experimental R&B.

Jae Luna – Introit

The NY-based artist Jae Luna’s new EP, “Projected Self”, puts a new spin on vocal-driven glitch pop. “Introit,” the opening track, teases us with Moses Sumney-esque melodies and percussive bursts that creep up on you like a silent tsunami. Powerful yet modest. Well done.

Dirty Nice – Luvin’ U (Feat. Desta French)

Dirty Nice’s newest banger is a juicey fusion of alt R&B and electropop. What “Luvin U (feat. Desta French)” lacks in lyrical creativity, it makes up for with sugary washed out instrumentation. The timbre of strings and piano quickly devolves into a prickly, plastic ballad.

Klubbhuset – Rehearsal

The great Let’s Play House is the label for new track “Rehearsal” from Klubbhuset. “Rehearsal” is backed by a tightly coiled set of 909’s and a cool R&B vocal sample and it’s one of our favorite dance tracks of the year.

Pip Millett – Love The Things You Do

What a vocal. Pip Millett takes a Lester Duval School of D’Angelo instrumental and just knocks it clear out styling the track with melodic stunner after melodic stunner. Love.

Oscar Jerome – Do You Really

“Do You Really” is the latest stream from UK songwriter Oscar Jerome. Matched to a sound palette that draws in influences from jazz and Brazilian music, “Do You Really” is very well-crafted bit of alt pop that we’re spinning.

Ryan Svendsen – One Hundred Percent (Feat. Jerome Thomas)

We dug last year Ryan Svendsen’s Molly Moore-featuring track “Orange Tree Leaves”. We’re very into Svendsen’s latest offering, “One Hundred Percent”. The track features one of our favorite new vocalists Jerome Thomas and is 3:25 of cooled-out horn-driven R&B. A+++.

Soft Streak – Ride

We’re into the cool blend of honed-in pop songwriting to more swerve-y production choices and non-obvious arranging on “Ride”, new L.A. duo Soft Streak.

Kendra Morris – Summertime

Oh yeah, we can most definitely get behind this one. For “Summertime” NYC singer Kendra Morris is outfitted in a perfectly paced mid-tempo instrumental, an excellent pairing for Morris’ main vocal melody which is as cool as the summer is long. Allllllll right.

Mary Miller – I Found Heaven

A potent and new force blown forth from the land of Liverpudlia “I Found Heaven” new from Mary Miller is one great refreshing idea after another. Our favorite bit is that break at 1:39 with the horns and the choral voices and samples are cascading down like some sort of primal set of gears. A++.

JMSN – Talk Is Cheap

JMSN streams “Talk Is Cheap” from forthcoming Velvet project. We’re very much behind this one. “Talk Is Cheap” is a a mid-tempo minor-keyed jammer 70’s soul/ W Coast hip-hop flavored little number delivered just in time for the maddest weeks of summer.
