Aiden Grimshaw – Curtain Call

Ex-X Factor UK top ten finalist Aiden Grimshaw is fast becoming something to keep an ear on. The mid-tempo “Curtain Call” fills a Top 40 void that which artists ala Robbie Williams seem to have been m.i.a. with in recent years. But Aiden is much more than a new school Robbie, his music vibes with a fresh and innovative approach to pop. Armed with crossover club tracks like “Is This Love”, and a debut album dropping soon, Aiden already has given people on both sides of the Atlantic something to talk about.

Chapel Club – Scared

We’ve been giving some rotation to the new Chapel Club tracks that recently dropped on the band’s website. While the new single “Sleep Alone” is a more instrumental departure from anything we’re used to hearing from the band, the dreamy “Scared” offers both a more discernible take on Lewis Bowman’s vocals and the band’s sound prior. The song’s playful melodies swirl and swing about in a multicolored uneasiness leaving the adolescent topic of what there is to be “Scared” of a bit more open to interpretation.

GRANT – Give Me Scabies (Kitty Pryde)

Seventeen years young Relief in Abstract producer GRANT flips some smooth Kenny G and the call-out hook from CRJ’s “Call Me Maybe” on his new Beat Tape Vol. 1. I’d love to be stuck in the elevator with my grandma when this jam comes on. She’d probably get down, of course so long as she doesn’t know the track title.

RAVE’S FAVE: The Walkmen – We Can’t Be Beat

Of all the newest albums, it seems The Walkmen’s Heaven is getting the most raves in chats I’m having with friends. True, these New York dudes are in fine form this time around. A few weeks ago, I posted “Heartbreaker”, which I feel would be a strong single. “We Can’t Be Beat” leads off the album. It’s acoustic, with a soothing, inspiring melody and beautiful harmonies. Perfect for late summer nights, or early weekend mornings…or anytime for that matter. – By Bruce Rave

Zedd – Spectrum (Armin Van Buuren Remix)

Van Buuren fires full fathom force on his brand new remix for Zedd. Look out for the monster buildup in the middle bit. Trance bros.

About The Girl – We Have To Talk

Somewhere in the quirky minor key atmosphere of “We Have To Talk” something conjures up a deeper emotional overtone. Retro in aesthetic, the young synth pop artist Amandine is About The Girl. She has recorded her recent material with the help of Yuksek, of whom has featured Amandine as a backing vocalist on several tracks from his Living on the Edge of Time release. Get familiar with this talent on the rise below.

MMC Da Click – Macaulay Culkin (Home Alone)

Some fresh RnB sounds from Mimi trio MMC Da Click. You know Kevin would have totally kicked it to this record and some real hunnies in Home Alone if he were a cool 16 instead of throwing that lame faux party with cardboard cut-outs and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”.

Nas – Cherry Wine (Feat. Amy Winehouse) (Prod. Salaam Remi)

One of the most anticipated tracks on Nas’ so-far-so-good upcoming LP Life Is Good, the Salaam-Remi produced “Cherry Wine” just got its proper debut on Tim Westwood’s Radio 1 show. Obviously, the late Ms. Winehouse’s presence on this track makes for a must listen sort of curiosity. “Cherry Wine” is nice though, cooking down Salaam’s silky smooth production touch to speak vitality into rap journeyman Nas’ inspired (for latter day Nas) rhymes.
