Lana Del Rey – Blue Jeans

lanadelrey

The Lana Del Rey train rolls into b3sci station with a new track and vid for “Blue Jeans”. Lana’s got the weight of the female powerhouses of 60’s pop, the space/atmosphere of a Mazzy Star, and the sultriness to eclipse’em all. Give “Blue Jeans” your attention below.

Action Bronson – Tapas

actionbronson

Yes!! “Tapas” by NYC rapper Action Bronson is yet another winner from that Peter Rosenberg Popchips (which are the shit btw) mixtape. Here, Action throws it down solid, rapping on food, tapas, food, and some other stuff on top a serious serious beat. Popchips!

Active Child tourmate Chad Valley just finished up this new remix of “Playing House”. It’s a little R&B, it’s a little ____wave, it’s a little 2011, its also A LOT awesome. We are loving it.

Blood Diamonds – Dreams

307704_236605019714553_127928083915581_615482_4353279_n

Seems like there’s about 500 bands with the word “Blood” in their name – Wise Blood, Fake Blood, Surfer Blood, Blood Orange, etc. So some of those bands/act are good, some are OK, some are shit. What separates Blood Diamonds from their Bloody competition? Tracks like “Dreams” are a start. “Dreams” is very much indie 2011, yes, but there is a soul (at least in this track) that other similar sounding bands (without Blood in their names lol) sort of lack or at least don’t have enough of. “Dreams” will make you feel something. Even if its “that was OK.” or “pretty good”. You’ll leave the track with SOMETHING.

New Navy – What Was Golden

newnavy

Straight away off the heels of their blogosphere smash “Zimbabwe” Aussies New Navy ready the “Uluwatu” EP (from which “What Was Golden” is excerpted). The boys’ unique mix of pop songwriting, indie musicality and electronic references make them a band you definitely want to keep a close watch on.

Class Actress – Weekend

classactress

Class! “Weekend” is the latest from BK’s Class Actress. The track features one of indie 2011’s better chorus hooks. We’re already humming along see…. “Bring It On the Weekend”. And we can’t wait! ….Cause this weekend means FREEFEST! We’re psyched. See y’all in Baltimore!

Alex Clare – Up All Night (Skream’s Behind Closed Doors Remix)

alexclare

Alex Clare’s “Up All Night” is one of our fav songs thusfar of 2011. Here dub heavyweight Skream takes “Up All Night” to the coldest most remote reaches of the ice age; the darkest, furthest throws of deep space (basically somewhere really cold dark and remote lol). Listen.

9th Wonder – No Pretending (Feat. Raekwon & Big Remo)

9th

Rae could rhyme over something like a 9th beat in his sleep. Fortunately, The Chef is focused on “No Pretending” and brings his A-Game. Big Remo slips in a tight 16 to close the track. Look out for 9th’s The Wonder Years LP, due Sept. 27.

Aerosmith – Dream On (GRiZ Remix)

dreamon

Opinions on the rest of Aerosmith’s catalogue aside, “Dream On” basically was the power ballad prototype and has, at least for me, existed sort of separate from Aerosmith’s other songs (in that its actually listenable). Still we love ya ST!

14th – Hide Yourself

180718_176417129044136_159207010765148_545883_2023018_n

Brilliant new track from a new duo out of London. “Hide Yourself” by 14th sounds as if someone from the 90’s traveled to 2011 or maybe 2010 listened to a bunch of nu-garage records and then threw down beast on tape. Great vocals and great melodies help “Hide Yourself” stand out and also help make for definite repeat listening material. Start listen one below. (DoML)
