Travis Scott – Drive (The 1975 Remix)

travisscott

Old friends The 1975 check in with dreamy re-styling of HTX artist Travis Scott’s “Drive” single. The ’75 select for a warm mix of chopped up vocal looping and glitch-y textured percussion with singer Matt Healy setting off the hook using lush and melodic lines.

Artwork Exclusive: The 1975 – An Encounter

anencounter

Today marks the North American release of The 1975’s self-titled debut and full-length album. The album has been a favorite of ours at b3HQ (you can stream the LP here), therefore when the band asked us to take part in their series of artwork premieres (there is a different piece of artwork for each song on the album) for their song “An Encounter”… of course we were more than obliged. “An Encounter” is a sort of compositional adhesion that, while short in length, paints a bridge of allure between musical statements. As frontman Matty Healy best puts it…

“An Encounter” acts as cinematically paced scene change that ushers in the album’s second phase, our personal ode to an eighties movie. Symbolising the moment the two characters from “Robbers” meet for the first time, “An Encounter” is a hopelessly romantic soundtrack to our Bonnie & Clyde’s first encounter …

Stream: The 1975 – The 1975 [LP]

the 1975

The 1975 have offered up a full stream of their most excellent self-titled debut album in anticipation of it’s release this coming Monday (9/2). In a recent interview with frontman Matt Healy, the Mike Crossey co-produced album is aptly described by the singer as a ‘culmination of a life’s work’. And, as with any true album, there is a tangibility to The 1975. The lyrical ebb and flow of memories of youth, lust, and all the experiences they come with, is here captured by a new generation of pop music appreciators, with an incisive blend of fluidic R&B rooted rock. After all, it’s not every day that a new British band merits a lasting impression on the North American conscience.

Interview with The 1975 in Los Angeles 7/24/13 [Audio]

1975photo_TroubadourLA

The 1975 made their Los Angeles debut known last Wednesday night at the world famous Troubadour in West Hollywood. The band were dialed-in that night and performed an inspiring, airtight, confident set; consisting of tracks from the ’75s four EPs (all released within the past year) as well as new material from their forthcoming Mike Crossey co-produced self-titled debut album (due in September via Vagrant/Interscope). Highlights from the night included “Head.Cars.Bending”, “The City”, “Sex” and set closer “You” as well as new album cuts like “Girls” which singer Matt Healy describes as (like much of the album) ‘made to sound like an 80s movie’.

Unbeknownst to the ’75 (or not), the guys are making moments. Whether winning over the likes of Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones, or turning heads at Glastonbury, The 1975 are poised and ready to take over the world; and they are doing so on their terms first. Prior to the band’s sold-out Troubadour set, we talked with Mr. Healy; discussing everything from the band’s history and philosophy, to their current state of mind and, finally, what fans can expect from their new album. Listen to the interview below and have a look at The 1975’s new video for their forthcoming single “Sex”.

The 1975 – So Good To Me (Chris Malinchak Cover)

the 1975

Team 1975 flip Chris Malinchak’s great “So Good To Me” track to a beautiful bit of piano-driven electronic rhythm-supported balladry. Cut for Radio 1’s Live Lounge Late , what’s on record here is not quite what you’d expect, necessarily of this band or this song but that’s what we really love here and what makes for a very rewarding listen.
