Premiere: Ryan Egan – Won’t You Be the One

The great Ryan Egan is back with a new record in the form of “Won’t You Be the One”. We’re digging the track’s midtempo 70’s-esque aesthetic and the brand new video for the song (which we’re very pleased to premiere at B3SCI!). Egan collaborated with co-director Amanda Taylor Evans for the “Won’t You Be the One” vid and describes his aim in matching the track’s feel, “We wanted to create a visual that complimented the slow-melting, sleepy groove of the track and I thought it’d be rad to base it all around a slowly rotating Spike Lee style dolly shot.”

Stream the B3SCI Premiere of Ryan Egan’s video for the excellent track Won’t You Be the One below.

Video: Imperial Mammoth – Fifty-Five Fires

Imperial Mammoth PRESS Shot 3

The rising L.A. synth duo Imperial Mammoth prep for LP Gold Confetti with the release of a puppet-aided video for single “”Fifty-Five Fires”. The track itself a sort of blend between the boy-girl call-to-arms pop of Matt & Kim and the more artful reaches of the CHVRCHES sound is well complemented by the cool Matt Glass-director film noir w/ puppets clip. Give “Fifty-Five Fires” your eyes and ears below.

Premiere: Secret Company – Saviour [Video]

secret company

Essex UK four-piece Secret Company debut the official video for their breakout track “Saviour”. Blending just enough pop sensibility shine (a la The 1975 or Bastille) to give the track the accessibility its anthemic ambitions require, “Saviour” still keeps it c-o-o-l with its of-the-moment layered rhythms and inventively textured atmospheres. We’ve got your B3SCI World Premiere of “Saviour” below.

Premiere: D.D Dumbo – Crying

D.D Dumbo

D.D Dumbo out of Australia, who’s “Tropical Oceans” track from last fall we dug, drops today a new video for his languid molasses-dipped cover of Roy Orbison’s iconic ballad “Crying”. As if distilling the pace of the 1961 track and its time through the lens of today’s velocity and speed, performance footage in the clip of the great Mr. Orbison carries a tempo that is nearly unintelligible to a modern eye. The feeling of it is quite powerful.

FredPageConcrete_Packshot

“Concrete” is the debut single from 23 year old London-based songwriter Fred Page. “Concrete” is acoustic-driven UK pop of the highest degree of quality. Lyrically engaging & candid, melodically effortless; “Concrete” is supercharged w/ the type of Chris Martin or Fran Healey at their finest pop songwriting hooks and skill that gives the track an immediate accessibility and unlimited breakout potential. Check out the B3SCI Premiere of “Concrete” and the Matt Cocksedge (Delphic)-directed clip for the track below and look for a release of “Concrete” from Young & Lost Records in the coming months.

Premiere: Sons & Lovers – The Only One [Video]

Pip_S&L_Wimbledon_001

London newcomers Sons & Lovers are hitting the road for the first-ever Satellite Tour with Eliza & The Bear and Fred Page. Having already shared stages with the likes of Ellie Goulding and Naked & Famous, the band is celebrating this tour with the release of a new video for their track “The Only One”. What makes “The Only One” particularly special is that the song was actually written around the video. As S&L frontman Tom puts it, “This is something we made with our friend Pip – a ridiculously talented photographer/director. We wanted to think of a story, film it, then write the track after the video was finished. Putting music to a video rather than the other way around was a cool and new fun thing for us.”

Have a first look at the cinematic “The Only One” from Sons & Lovers below.

Premiere: Ophelia Cache – Leaving London (Video)

Ophelia Cache

We loved Ophelia Cache’s Kickdrums-produced “Leaving London” track from last month. With the assistance of director Nick Snow, Ophelia’s gone now and shot a stunning & brilliant new clip for the track. About the video, Ms. Cache said, “I had hoped to make a video that would make people want to go to London just so they can leave…like they may be missing out on some deep unrest that is all the rage. Nick’s idea to put the images of London and lyrics physically on me, I feel visually manifests perfectly how consuming true wanderlust can be.” “Leaving London” is the first single off Ophelia Cache’s upcoming EP release “Dolly & The Bull”.

B3SCI Best of 2013: Top 50 Songs

2013top50songs

Mick Jagger once said, “I know it’s only rock n’ roll, but I like it.” And while, 1974 Mick is probably too coked out right now to salute this year’s best 50 tracks, Keith Richards just dropped a heater of lick and suddenly Mr. Jagger’s all punching the air shouting, “Yes I Do, Yes I Do.” It’s B3SCI’s favorite 50 tracks of 2013.
