Carroll – Green Acres

carroll_001

We’re into the potent-vibrant dreamy psych-pop latitudes of 2011-minted Minneapolis-based four-piece indie group Carroll on their woozy ethereal-hypnotic new single “Green Acres” which featured today on SPIN’s Pure Volume. We think Carroll, who we last discussed in regards to their excellent tangible-indie debut psych-rock single “Alligator”, is set to dominate the radio airwaves/blogwaves some more with the full release of their upcoming debut self-titled EP (which features both tracks). The “Carroll” EP is out on September 18 via eOne Music. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Kisses – The Nile

kisses

“Nile” is the catchy boogie-rhythm-driven “Rest in Paradise” EP 3rd Single from LA male-female duo Kisses (Jesse Kivel and Zinzi Edmundson) who last put the vibes on with a soulfully-captivating heart-felt piece of dark-infused 80’s-styled horn-filled funk-pop called “Control”. “Rest In Paradise” is out on October 9th. Melissa Steel – You Love Me? (Jakwob Remix)

melissasteel

Jakwob hits the blogosphere with a superbly wrought (of course) dramatic dub-heavy trap-percussion-accented refix of “You Love Me?” (from UK songstress Melissa Steel) that is out the 11th of September via Atlantic Records. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

abhi//dijon – Him

abhidijon3

We last covered B3 duo-fave abhi//dijon for their perfectly-sultry r&b slow-burner “Like A Bird” which is a single off the duo’s recently-released very-excellent Stay Up EP. We dig the duo’s delicate r&b good-vibes sentimentality and romance-centered mindset on the lot of “Stay Up” yet are drawn to several tracks in particular. We like the exquisitely stylized hip-hop beats/r&b hybrid production dynamics of the EP’s first single “Wait” (discussed on B3 in July), the gorgeous short and sweet acoustic guitar led track “Him” (featured here) and the EP’s final track called “Apple Pie” which adds a nice soft and sultry melodic jazz-inspired finish to the album. Rodrigo Garcia – Data (Myk Derill Remix)

rodrigogarcia

Wade though the soulfully-sentient dark-ambient-vibed inner sonic trenches and subtle well-orchestrated pounding far-out rhythm-atmospherics of Berlin-based Myk Derill on his haunting sleek-mod depth-driven trippy-hypnotic-vibe psy-trance-y twist of “Data” from Buenos Aires/Barcelona artist Rodrigo Garcia. We love the track’s minimalist and esoteric Pink Floydesque wild-and-crazy universally-themed accompanying animated video too. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Levantis – Jamaican Greek Style

levantis

We’re drawn to the beautifully blended ambient elementals of “Jamaican Greek Style” a super creepy new track from Levantis a.k.a. Athens producer Nick Levantis. We like the deeply cinematic narrowly-focused dark-tempered slow-marching mechanical-metallic deep-house sentiments of the track which is off Levantis’ upcoming new Oct 30-release album called ‘Romantic Psychology 1’ that is out on Technicolour. Palace Winter – Menton

palacewinter

We dig the REM-vibe wandering-melodic dreamy vocal atmospherics, monotone talky-soliloquy style background vocal interludes and brightly-laced jangled-mash of psych-rock attitudes of male duo Palace Winter (Australian singer-songwriter Carl Coleman and Danish producer-pianist Caspar Hesselager) on their new expansive bright-vibed 6:20-minute indie jam called “Menton” which is the second single from the duo’s “Medication” EP out on Oct 2, 2015. Freedom Fry – Tropicana

freedomfry2

We’re still into “21” a track B3 recently-covered from Freedom Fry (the male-female Franco-American duo of Marie Sayet and Bruce Driscoll) which was recorded during/after their month-long L.A. Echo residency. We also totally appreciate Freedom Fry’s new one called “Tropicana” a melody-driven track that excels for its brilliant vogey-vibrant vocals, straight-cheery upbeat tropical temperatures and hazed-out indie guitar grooves. “Tropicana”- a vocals-led song about “taking a trip away from your problems to your happy place”- is top on our list of radio-ready tracks for this week. ROCH – Closer

ROCH

The emotively accurate “Closer” is the career debut for ROCH. “Closer” is beautiful. Wrapped about a spare electric guitar and hushed piano chords and centered on ROCH’s magnetic alto, “Closer” is a very special debut from a potentially very special artist.

Lastlings – Wavelength

lastlings

Lose yourself in the pleasant surprise indie-dreamy hushy-whispery melody-enveloped Sundays-vibed vocals and unhurried quiet-centered pace of Australian brother-sister electro-pop duo Lastlings (Joshua and Amy Dowdle) on their very good career second-single “Wavelength”. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Lianne La Havas – What You Don’t Do (Maribou State Remix)

liannelahavas

The vivaciously soul-spirited vocal-led track “What You Don’t Do” from London songstress Lianne La Havas gets an excellent slick-percussion-tinged mellow-path house makeover from B3 favorite artist Maribou State; who are the London-based deep house leaning beat-maker duo responsible for creating the excellent June-released “Portraits” EP which we loved for its smashing Pedestrian-vocals-boosted track “The Clown”.
