L.A. band Cherry Glazerr have a new seven inch in the works for Suicide Squeeze Records. The visceral and reverb-rinsed “Had Ten Dollaz” manages its potent-ness and powerful quality without sounding hackneyed or formulaic (here’s the part where the guitars turn up). We love it.

The combination of Alina Baraz’s breathy float-on-top-the-mix vocal and producer Galimatias’ vibed-down exotic-y beats has produced some of B3’s favorite tracks of 2013 and 2014 including the very accurately titled “Pretty Thoughts”. “Fantasy” is another strong exercise in the Baraz/Galimatias formula and deserves your attention below. “Fantasy” is excerpted from the upcoming “Urban Flora” EP.

We touched yesterday on Kiesza’s excellent R&B turn how it felt in quality and construction like (in the context of the seemingly everywhere right now “alt-R&B) believable R&B, Jordan’s starry-eyed “Lowkey” remix is composed of similar credible DNA. Luke Million, one half of the Aussie duo The Swiss, offers the superb french disco-flavored “Light & Sound”. If you’re into Flight Facilities or Darius or Cherokee, the warm vibe-y dance vibes of Million’s “Light & Sound” is likely up your street. “Light & Sound” is the title track from Luke Million’s upcoming EP for etcetc out September 26.

It’s been a short minute since Meg Myers played a show in Los Angeles, and so this intimate homecoming gig at The Echo was a must see. I can safely say that with every show Meg plays, the bar is raised – something of which more artists need to take note. Meg Myers proved to the soldout Echo that night that she’s here to stay. Myers had the entire venue singing along to “Desire”. For the few lucky fans that were able to grab a ticket, she also played new tracks that have not yet been heard live. Meg will be opening for Royal Blood at The Troubadour at the end of the month. If you’re fortunate to have tickets, you don’t want to be late for Meg.

Kiesza’s “Hideaway” is one of indie in 2014 biggest success stories. The dance-flavored track topped the UK single chart in April and the song’s video has amassed over 100M views on YouTube. “Bad Thing”, Kiesza’s new track, is not “Hideaway” but it is very good. The R&B-styled and Joey Bada$$-featuring (!) song has the accompanying weight and believe-ability that much of the oft-maligned alt R&B blog genre is missing in Sept 2K14. Kiesza is real and “Bad Thing” is great.
