Galimatias is one of our favorite artists in any genre right now. The Danish producer continues to push forward his far-flung and cinematic sounds into new palettes and spaces with each successive release. New one “Night Owl” is much like the name on its tin would indicate quite nocturnal sounding as the track balances deep house-inspired electronics with hushed jazz and hip hop-referencing rhythms.

The young (she’s only 16!) Grace Mitchell stands out among the boundless ocean of new alternative-leaning pop songstresses on the strength of her track’s writing and quality. “Broken Over You” is constructed and crafted for not only the most inclusive consumption but gets there in innovative unexpected ways. The track’s soaring refrain and sturdy dynamics are framed in a way that feels unique keeping for the song a genuine dynamic.

Silk Rhodes are a new addition to Stones’ Throw’s excellent line-up of artists and they debut this week with the spare and affecting soul of “Pains”. “Pains” is not alt R&B or neo R&B it’s a classic sounding record buoyed by one of the most heart-wringing organ tones you’ll ever hear on wax.

In what seems to be a slap in the face to all other female fronted acts, LA based Dorothy doesn’t minx words or attitude. This collective want to rock and party right fucking now. Taking the LA scene by storm and grabbing the attention of almost the whole music industry with the southern-fried “After Midnight”, Dorothy return with “Wild Fire”. On the night of Friday, August 15, Pandora listeners were treated to a special invite only event showcasing The Antlers live at the Mack Sennett Studios in Hollywood.
The Brooklyn band brought their dreamy and tranquil sound to an excited Los Angeles crowd. Attendees were treated to a radiant performance. There were flashing lights and a colorful set-up which mirrored the emotion of the music. The Antlers delivered a wistful feeling in a positive manner, inspiring nostalgic thoughts as lead singer Peter Silberman sang in his signature falsetto.
Now on their fifth studio album, the crowd (those that were actually listening and not taking advantage of the open bar) responded well to new tracks from the new ‘Familiar’ album. ‘Familiar’ has a good vibe to it and fans appreciated the new album with minor dance/body movements throughout the entire night.
