Melvv – Not Me (Feat. Two Feet)

Melvv has had an incredible year. From hitting number one on Spotify with his easy-listening track “Vibe” to performing side by side with Autograf and Goldroom, Melvv has accomplished a ton, and his latest track, “Not Me” (feat. Two Feet) is no different. This catchy song produces smooth and smokey vocals that feel refreshing. Melvv takes a different approach to this track while still staying true to his roots. Check out this fresh tune.

MRKI – Weird Nights

Miami’s MRKI sports a sound similar to two of my favorite contemporary female vocalists, Phantogram and Purity Ring. If you’re into their edgy indie pop style you’ll definitely dig this artist’s latest tune “Weird Nights.” Stream it here and enjoy.

Geowulf – Don’t Talk About You

The UK “Saltwater” hitmakers, Geowulf, follow-up their breakthrough with track of equivalent blissed-out brilliance. The beachy, dreamy number “Don’t Talk About You” sonically picks right up where “Saltwater” last left us, excelling through a tuneful surrealistic vibe long on great pop songwriting skill. Stream “Don’t Talk About You” below

Rodes Rollins – Young & Thriving

A sublime and magnetic vocal, an evocative and transportive tranche of a production choices and instrumentation, and a run of melodies and tunefulness that is just wrecking to one’s central viscera (enough hyperbole for you?), Rodes Rollins’ “Young & Thriving” is some very very good dark pop. One of the best debut tracks of the year.

Tanis – Blackout (Memoryy Remix)

This remix of Tanis’ “Blackout” by Albuquerque’s rising synth pop act, Memoryy recently caught my ear. The tune take’s the original’s elegant vocals and accentuates them with melodic synths and feel-good energy to create an uplifting atmosphere. If you dig the sound, definitely check out Memoryy’s other work as the artist seems to be cultivating a strong style.

Tulpa – Gnats (Feat. BLANKTS)

Vocalist BLANKTS and producer Tülpa recently collaborated on a delicate indie electronic track, “GNATS.” Gentle vocals over a nostalgic instrumental make for tune that promises to keep you cozy as we get into Fall. Stream it here and if you like what you here get excited for the duo’s upcoming EP, “Storytales”, dropping later this season. Reviewed by Selena Shaw.

SWIMS – Twice

We’re into “Twice”, the new track from London-based SWIMS. Melodically (at least in terms of its groove) reminding a bit of Rihanna’s “Rude Boy”, “Twice” (while sounding like a lot of songs/bands out right now) overpowers on the merit of it’s very strong tune. Well done.

Minden – Sheila

We were into “Love is Bad” a couple weeks back and we’re equally knocked out by latest stream “Sheila” from Portland band Minden. From forthcoming LP Sweet, Simple Things out Friday on Hit City USA, “Sheila” is a cool tune built on breezy major chords, 70’s pop-influenced instrumentation (ie. into those bongos), and some really impeccable vocal melodies. Get into Minden and “Sheila” below.

Salute – One More Chance (Feat. D.R.A.M.)

salute

“I’ve been around the world while you’ve been wrapped around my fingers”. Mr. Does Real Ass Music (and one of our favorites from SXSW 2016 — remember that ancient thing?) collabs with Brighton-residing Austrian Salute for a bit of dance-y R&B set to the tune of gospel piano.
