Premiere: Meadowlark – Satellite

Meadowlark_colour

“Satellite” is a fine example of the well-tuned craft which Bristol duo Meadowlark is coming to be recognized for. With a soundscape reaching beyond the redundant and ambient R&B tendencies of their contemporaries, “Satellite” is an irresistible indie pop chiller, boasting uniquely expansive production and a melodic chorus of exceptional replay value.

“Satellite” is premiered here from the sophomore EP release by Meadowlark called ‘Paraffin‘, and is available this Friday 4/22 on Believe Records. Be sure to catch Meadowlark on tour in Europe this coming May.

SALES – Ivy

sales-ivy

The mellifluous Floridians return for pensive new sparkler, “Ivy”. Excerpted from the Orlando duo’s forthcoming debut LP (following “Big Sis” and “Jamz”), “Ivy” wins on its melodically cool sonically warm guitar work and its inventive (and pleasantly unexpected) turns of tune. We dig. Look for the new SALES LP on April 20th.

EAT FAST – Stammer

eatfast

UK newcomers EAT FAST f/k/a EAT blend candy-sweet melodic sense with rapid fire guitars and laser beam-propelled tempos in crafting very listenable punishing pop tunes that sound not quite like anything else out right now. If you’re headed Great Escape-ward in May, EAT FAST play the Fishbowl on the 20th.

Matt Maltese – Studio 6

Matt Maltese_2016

South London songwriter Matt Maltese links up with another fave of the site (and South Londoner too) Alex Burey (who helms up production on the track) for plaintive new one “Studio 6”. Built around a soft subtle piano tune & Maltese’s lilting vocal, “Studio 6” is a romantic track neatly tailored for a slow dance with your girl/boy/mate/yourself/friends, etc. A+

Premiere: Mansionair – Pick Me Up (BAILE Remix)

Mansionair_7587

Australian band Mansionair, the author of Hypem #1’s “Hold Me Down” and “Speak Easy”, are the recipients of an ace new remix from BK producer BAILE on latest track “Pick Me Up”. On the mix, BAILE, who’s produced strong past remixes for BAIO and Akiine, takes warmly spatial approach to “Pick Me Up” crafting an expansive but still emotively near new frame and atmosphere for Mansioair’s neatly composed tune. We love it. Stream the B3 Premiere of BAILE’s remix of “Pick Me Up” for Mansionair.

Tacocat – Talk

tacocat

Tune into the amazing new song from new-to-B3 Swedish artist Tacocat (fab name). Wow. After merely hearing one of their songs its safe to say we dig the sound of Tacocat!! A veritable cornucopia of clever lyrics, playful vibe vocals, basic instrumentals (dig the guitar riff) and a perfect slice of pent-up aggro emotion, Tacocat’s “Talk” is the second single from the Hardly Art artist’s Lost Time LP (out April 1st on Hardly Art records). Penthouse & Maribelle – About U

penthousemaribelle

Australian R&B-stress Maribelle teams with production duo Penthouse on new track for Crush Club Records. Following a template of mid to late 90’s R&B (Aaliyah, Mya, Faith Evans) distilled through 2016 production ideas, “About U” wins on its very strong stable tuneful melodies and being very good at its particular template. Also Maribelle’s vocal is $$$$.

M.A.D. – Mind

mad

One of the latest tunes to drop on XLR8R (one of our faves from them lately) is named “Mind”; an immensely creepy creation of Rubi (Barcelona) artist M.A.D!. “Mind” is a capricious and dramatic tune, a mellow helter skelter with lots of room to breathe into the amazing mood it sets. Over the course of 7:34 minutes M.A.D! (Mutual Assured Distortion) develops an intense nail-biting atmospheric basically just on synth alone and towards the end he throws in bongos for a calming effect. Scary! This needs to be in a sci-fi thriller. M.A.D! does a wonderful job at drawing the listener into a completely different, creatively unique electro terrain that peaks and ebbs into emotive chaos yet also manages to taper off into nothing for a finish. Rad stuff M.A.D!! Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Artifakts – Up & Up

artifakts

Get acquainted with Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based artist Artifakts, the “ever-evolving, electronic hip-hop project” of Garret Meyer. We highly recommend his latest tune “Up Up” and would go so far as to say its brilliant. A soul-based mix of jaunty beats and groovy guitar riffing, juxtaposed with a scratchy trance-y synth and distorted vocals “Up Up” is top on our list of tracks for the week. Extremely cool song. Stream it below. Reviewed by Erin Shay.
