J.Cole – Mr. Nice Watch (Feat. Jay-Z)

j-cole

Awwww shit. Words like “BANGER” “FIRE” “JAM”, etc get tossed around WAY TOO MUCH. “Mr. Nice Watch” is a banger. “Mr. Nice Watch” is fire. “Mr. Nice Watch” is MEGATON JAM. Produced by J. Cole. Cole World: Sideline Story, Sept. 27. No more Mr. Nice Watch.

Shadows On Stars – Out of My Head

shadowsonstars

Shadows On Stars, a mysterious (we know nothing about them either) duo from Portland bring on “Out of My Head” a cool, punchy, hooky, sound that makes the band one to watch as more of their material becomes available. Listen.

Junip – Without You (Portugal. The Man Remix)

junip

P. The Man take the jammy Junip single for a journey traversing mountain high and valley wide. The theme here is motion, movement, mechanical momentum. This remix is the perfect late night sort of driving track. There’s just enough atmosphere and eeriness in it to set that mood. The mix also sort of reminds of Zero 7 or even P. The Man at their more mellow moments. Give it a spin.

James Blake – Not Long Now

jamesblake

Last night GP dropped a new JB track on BBC. “NLW” is excerpted from Blake’s upcoming Enough Thunder EP. The EP will also include “Falls Creek Boys Choir”, JB’s collabo with BI. “Not Long Now” is more of the spare beeps bloops and beats and faraway croons consistent with the Blake sound. Let us know what you think.

The Deloreans – Dandelion

deloreans

A little something beautiful from Louisville band The Deloreans. The epic “Dandelion”, complete with picked uke, cinematic string pads, and a great 3/4 step, is gorgeous and will have you in love immediately. Jawdropper.

To mark the release of their new LP Wired Together Manchester band The Whip are giving excerpted track “Keep or Delete” away for free. The brash dance pop track goes 0 to 100 km/h in about 3 seconds leading into an excellent hooky chorus. Don’t miss it.

Sarongs – Pedestrian

sarongs

They’re are a zillion surf fuzzed out rock bands like Sarongs right now. Most of which are pretty shitty. Guitar fuzz, weird female background vocals, instagrammed press photo, whatevs. Sarongs were (the band is already broken up) actually good. We are talking legit songwriting chops and some fucking MENACE. Remember when rock and roll had some MENACE in it? Yeah, we know it’s hard to. Let Sarongs be your reminder.
