Our girl Ri keeps the content farm rolling on. As Loud expires a new record rises. “We Found Love” is a first taste of what we can expect from Rihanna’s new project due in November. The tune features Calvin Harris on the boards and it’s sound definitely signals Ri’s embrace of the latest crop of electro.

Dope dude Lunice dropped a new mix for FADER today. The c. 28 min set goes in pretty hard, running from Wiz and Flocka to Clams and JE’s way slept on “Tip of My Tongue”. Sample one of our favs from the set, Lunice’s awesome remix of XV’s “Swervin'”

Here’s a bit different look from those lovable Scottish post-punk blokes WWPJ. “Building Buildings” is a torchy millennial piano ballad that ticks all the right boxes for that sort of song. On the track, hushed distorted guitars serve as a bed for frontman Adam Thompson’s languid slow burning melodies. And, oh yeah, like the track title would suggest there is a serious build to the song as well.

One of our favorite artists doing it right now in any genre, James Vincent McMorrow delivers a version of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” that is nothing less than stunning. There are A LOT of covers of “Wicked Game” floating out there in the blogoverse. This one tops them all. Do not miss it.

#TEAMLANA. Here’s a something we hadn’t heard yet from Lana Del Rey. We did some research and came up empty with any sort of attachment of this song to her Lizzy Grant persona. Everything Lizzy Grant has been wiped from the record. Gone. However, judging from the “hi-fi” production values and Lana’s singing style on the track we’re guessing this track dates a little a bit. The track’s vid does look like a post-enhancement Lana though. #lipinspection. That aside, it’s still a nice track from Ms. Del Rey Grant.

Plastic Plates turns in another heater of a remix with his space funk take on The Magician’s “I Don’t Know What To Do”. In anticipation of the single’s official release, The Magician is giving the remix away for free. All you gotta do is hit that soundcloud player and the track will “magically” appear on your hard drive. Chimay!

True story, “Radioactive” is one of my favorite songs of the year. I’ve had it on nonstop repeat the last several weeks. Something about the combo of a great track and the dynamism of an artist in some sort of transition really does it for me sometimes. “Scab & Plaster”, although not quite “Radioactive” good, is a top track in its own right. “S&P” has a sound that mixes 80’s UK rock (Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, Cure, other stuff) and current pop radio (think Katy Perry working with a much broader emotive palette). Lapalux is maybe our favorite producer doing it right now. Here he hooks up with the track of another b3sci fav, Thundercat, for an interstellar track. The track features cascading bits of vocal, synth layering, and programming all revolving semi-chaotically to create a truly cosmic sounding whirl. Shouts out to the b3sci grown and sexy crowd. Shouts also to the b3sci E.T. grown and sexy crowd. This mix is for you guys.
