Alex Clare – Damn Your Eyes

alex-clare

Alex Clare, one of the dopest artists in any genre right now, recently cut this gripping (and we don’t use that word lightly) cover of “Damn Your Eyes”, a tune made famous by the legendary Etta James. It’s rare to hear an Etta song done so well, let alone by a male voice. Do not miss this one.

Trevor Meyer – Those Days Are More Than Over Now (Demo)

trev

Riverside, CA-based singer/songwriter Trevor Meyer just sent over this demo for his stunning track “Those Days Are More Than Over Now”. Complete with clattering drum layers, delayed guitar leads, and a smart capping coda melody the song has a unique blend of atmosphere and mood that make for definite repeat listening material.

Rihanna – We Found Love (Prod. Calvin Harris)

rihanna2

Our girl Ri keeps the content farm rolling on. As Loud expires a new record rises. “We Found Love” is a first taste of what we can expect from Rihanna’s new project due in November. The tune features Calvin Harris on the boards and it’s sound definitely signals Ri’s embrace of the latest crop of electro.

Chemo – The Cause and the Cure (Feat. Jareth)

stomach-of-the-mountain

London producer Chemo loosens a hinge or two from the vault on his forthcoming The Stomach Of The Mountain LP. Jareth’s vocal adds a perfect layer to the cinematic “Cause and the Cure”, and finds the pocket better than anything else I’ve listened to this week.

“Jackie Blue” by 70’s band Ozark Mountain Devils is one of those great classic rock radio staples. Those moments of one hit wonder transcendence that your local classic rock DJ bro sandwiches between triple play sets from Pink Floyd and AC/DC. Gardens & Villa – Thorn Castles

gardens

“Thorn Castles” is a fave track from one of our fave albums of the year thus far from Santa Barbara band Gardens & Villa’s s/t debut. The tune stops spits and starts, that syncopation framing a hooky melody that will have you thinking “CALIFORNIA” in no time, that or “GREAT SONG” or something like that, we don’t know, we have many talents but we’re not mind readers! Hit the track.
